The moon shone over Whiteshore. It wasn't as obvious as it had been in Blackfell. The urban landscape of Whiteshore made it hard to see moon and even the stars in the sky. So the only light available in the darkness were the street lamps, which dimly lit up the city streets. But none of that mattered to the man who walked through them.

He wore a black hoodie and black jeans, almost blending in to the darkness around him. The hood of his hoodie was down, revealing his messy dark brown hair. It looked like he'd been running his hands though it. His usually mischievous gray eyes were now full of sadness and misery.

Why had he done this again?

Why had he left home?

Why had he left them?

His family.

He had tried to forget them, but even now he could still hear their names in the back of his mind.

Damien.

Starlene.

Sorina.

Gabriel.

Selena.

Alexandra.

Alexandra. Hearing that name set more misery coursing through his veins.

He continued to walk down the street. He wasn't in a hurry. He didn't have anywhere to be.

Maybe things would be easier if he just let it all go and gave in to his dark urges. Became the true King of Night that he knew he was.

But he wasn't there yet.

He wasn't that desperate.

Was he?

Eventually he arrived at his apartment building, in front of which he found a woman standing. Her long dark hair and striking pale green eyes gave away her identity. He knew who she was.

"Well, well, a member of the High Council, a King no less, out here all alone," she stated in a sultry voice.

"Nadia," he greeted.

"King Stefan in all his glory," she purred, "To what do I owe the honour of your presence?"

Stefan rolled his eyes. His brother's messenger had probably been sent to track him.

"The better question is what are you doing here, Nadia?" I asked, "Are you tracking me for Damien? Is that what this is?"

"Please," she scoffed, "I don't work for your brother anymore."

Stefan raised an eyebrow.

"Then why are you here?" Stefan asked, "And more importantly, how did you find me?"

"Easy, I saw you leave Cygnus Keep and followed you," Nadia replied, "As for why I'm here. I'm here to help you deal with your pain."

"And just how do you plan on doing that?" Stefan asked.

"Like this," Nadia purred as she crashed her lips to his. She pulled away and looked into his eyes. There was hunger in hers. She leaned up and whispered in his ear. "They say there is no greater pleasure than sharing a bed with a King," she whispered, "Would you bestow such pleasure upon me, Your Majesty?" She nipped at his earlobe. "I can make all your troubles disappear," she purred as she squeezed his bicep. She was trying to seduce him and he knew it.

It was no secret to Stefan that Nadia wanted him. She had been trying to seduce him for years now and he'd kept turning her down because she wasn't for him, he could feel that. But right now, he didn't care. He just wanted to forget everything. So he scooped her up in his arms and took her up to his apartment.
