*Stefan*

It was past midnight and Emberly, Calder, and I should have been asleep, but Gabriel was panicking, which meant that he most likely wouldn't be getting any sleep. As such the three of us were sitting on the couch, watching as Gabriel paced in front of us, trying our best to calm him down.

"Gabriel, you're going to wear a hole in the floor," Calder told him, "Sit down."

"I can't," Gabriel replied.

"Gabriel, listen to me," Emberly told him, "Stop pacing and breathe."

Gabriel kept pacing.

I sighed and stood up, blocking his path, effectively stopping his pacing.

"Gabe, sit down," I told him as I gently guided him over to the couch and sat him down.

"I can't stand this," Gabriel admitted, "I should be out there looking for Rina."

"You are going to be of zero help to the search party," I told him, "Your judgement is clouded because it's Sorina. That means you're bound to make a stupid mistake and stupid mistakes can be fatal."

"Besides, Damien told you to stay put and there's no way that Stef and I are letting you leave this house," Calder told Gabriel, "So you're stuck here."

"I feel so useless," Gabriel sighed.

"I know," I assured him, "But we'll find her."

"Why can't we go out and track her ourselves?" Gabriel asked, "We did that when Selena was kidnapped."

"That was different, Damien and Selena had shared blood and therefore Damien was able to sense her, making it easy for us to track her," I explained, "Has Mason done the same with Sorina?"

"I don't think so," Gabriel replied.

"Then we'll have no way of tracking Sorina down," I stated.

Gabriel sighed. He knew I was right.

My phone buzzed and I saw Damien's name flash across the screen. I answered the call, putting it on speaker as I did.

"Did you find her?" Gabriel asked.

"Not yet," Damien replied, "That's not why I called."

"What is it Damien?" I asked. My oldest brother sighed.

"I know that you four are safe at the safe house, but I need you to step back into the fold of the High Council," Damien admitted, "Stef, Gabe, you're allowed to say no. I'll understand if either of you don't want to put on your crowns yet."

"I'm ready," I assured him, "I think it's time I stopped grieving and started serving my people again."

"I could use a distraction from my worry," Gabriel admitted.
