*Selena*
"Harper, we're so happy you could make it," I told the young witch as she entered the throne room. Court was about to begin.
"Thank you for inviting me, Selena...I mean, Your Majesty," she told me.
"Harper, we'd like you to cast a deception detection spell over the Court this morning," Damien told her, "We need to know who the traitor is in Cygnus Keep."
"Sure, let's do this," Harper agreed.
"I'll let you know when," Damien told her. She nodded.
The Lords and Ladies of the Court filed in and took their places. The doors of the throne room closed and Starlene sent shadow warriors across the room. They blocked the doors, cutting off any chance of escape.
"There's a traitor among us," Damien told the Court, "And since we have been unable to identify them, we asked a witch to help us. Harper, you may begin."
Harper muttered some words under her breath as she closed her eyes and waved a hand over the crowd. I gasped as white auras appeared around them. Harper opened her eyes and turned to us.
"If they're innocent, they'll have a white aura," she told us.
"And if they're guilty?" Damien asked.
"A black one," Harper replied. Damien, Starlene, and I scanned the room, searching for a black aura. I spotted one trying to rush out of the throne room.
"Star, the door," I warned my sister in law. Her eyes flashed red and a long rope made of shadows ensnared the person fleeing and pulled them back towards us.
The person was thrown to the ground in front of the thrones.
"Stand up traitor!" Damien commanded.
The traitor stood and I saw the shocked and terrified eyes of Lord Marin.
"Your Majesties, I would never—" he began.
"Silence!" Damien told him as black flames appeared at his feet. I gave Harper a sideways glance. Was it possible the spell was wrong?
"The auras don't lie, Your Majesties," Harper assured us.
I nodded and turned my attention back to Lord Marin.
"The witch is lying!" Lord Marin insisted. My blood boiled with anger. How dare he?! Harper was my friend and Leon's girlfriend. She was practically family. How dare he call her a liar?!
"Do you take us for fools, Lord Marin?!" I asked. My eyes flashed red. Damien looked at me, surprised. I had never truly lost my temper before. But then something else happened. Glowing orbs of light appeared around me. I heard Damien's gasp of shock, but my focus remained on Lord Marin.
"No, my Queen," Lord Marin said meekly.
"Tell us what you have told Marius and the Hunters!" I demanded.
