*Stefan*
It was still dark when we left the hotel. A chilly wind blew through the air and I felt Emberly shiver beside me.
I placed my jacket over her shoulders. The cold didn't bother me. It never had.
"Thanks," Emberly told me, "You're not cold?"
"When you have power over wind, you learn to adapt to the cold," I told her as I made a little tornado appear in my hand.
She smiled and I wrapped an arm around her.
"Stefan Drake," a voice growled. I froze and the wind howled around me, sensing my uneasiness.
In front of us stood a man with sandy brown hair and menacing green eyes. I spotted a crossbow in his hands and knew what brought him here. He was a Hunter and I was his prey.
But I wasn't going to run. Oh no. Drakes never ran from a fight. Well, we never ran if we were given a choice.
"Morning, my friend," I greeted the Hunter.
"I'm not your friend," the Hunter growled angrily, "Surrender now and I'll make sure your death is quick."
"Please," I scoffed, "If there's one thing you guys suck at, it's ensuring people's deaths are quick."
The Hunter turned to Emberly.
"Why do you associate with this filth?" he asked, "You're a human."
"And you're a jerk!" Emberly growled, "I'd much rather associate with a vampire that shows respect than a human that hates people just because they're different."
The Hunter glared at her.
"Humans that sympathize with supernaturals shouldn't exist," he growled, "We're better than them."
And with that he fired a couple of arrows at us. I didn't even have time react and use my wind powers to blow the arrows away from us. The first arrow hit me in my shoulder and I stumbled back, but stayed standing. The second arrow, to my utter horror, hit Emberly in the stomach. She gasped in pain and fell to the ground.
The Hunter ran off and I pulled the arrow out of my shoulder. It didn't burn me which meant two things. One, these arrows weren't laced with Hawthorn. And two, that Hunter was clearly not a professional.
I knelt down and cradled Emberly in my arms. She was dying and we both knew it.
"Em...I can save you," I told her, "I can turn you with the intention of making you my Consort, but you have to consent."
"I love you, Stefan," she told me, "Please turn me, I want to live."
I bit into my wrist and looked up at the sky, letting the stars bear witness as I made my vow.
"Let the heavens bear witness," I stated, "I, Stefan Drake, son of Lucian and Maricara Drake, hereby choose to give Emberly Clark the gift of vampirism with the intention of making her my Consort."
