You said I could do whatever I wanted, so it's a modern AU.

(NOTICE- I HAVE NEVER PERSONALLY GONE HUNTING, SO THIS IS BASED OFF WHAT I KNOW FROM MOVIES, BOOKS, AND STORIES FROM FRIENDS. SORRY IF IT'S BAD.)

ANYWAYS, ONWARD!-

"Almost have it… almost have it…"

Niles was currently hunting a small herd of elk, going for the second largest one he had seen in his 23 years of life. (Making up ages here, sorry.) His bow was drawn back to his cheek, and an orange-fletched arrow was nocked on the string. He squinted his eye, steadying his shot.

"One more step and…"

-BANG-

A gunshot sounded in the area, and the herd of elk bolted, startled by the explosion.

Niles stood up quickly, pointing his arrow to the ground.

"Show yourself! Didn't even get one but scared my prize away?"

A (length)(color) haired girl stood up from behind a large cluster of ferns, sheepishly looking at her feet. "Terribly sorry mister…"

"Niles."

He looked at her. Fairly young, and a little naive.

Just his type.

"And you are?"

"(Name)! And I really am sorry about scaring away the elk, I'm just learning how to hunt."

Looking a bit more closely, the snow haired male could make out a few small cuts, as well as small branches tangled in his companion's hair.

Niles chuckled. "Well, you look a bit lost anyway."

"Yeah." (Name) looked down again. "I'm from (town name), but if you could help me to the nearest town, that'd be nice.

"Sure, why not."

The two of them had been hiking in silence for a bit when (Name) thought of a conversation starter.

"Hey Niles?"

He grunted softly.

"What happened to your eye?"

He turned to face her slightly. "I lost it to another criminal on the streets as a child. Kinta messed up huh."

"Another criminal? As in you are or were a criminal at some point?"

He chuckled. "Yeah. I was. A pretty good thief in my childhood."

"And now?"

He shrugged. "Years of working silently is what makes me a good hunter. Hurry up now, we're almost out of the woods."

The pair broke through the treeline, now facing a small village-type town.

"Welcome to my home. Sorry you're not staying long."

(Name) shrugged. "Oh well. It was nice meeting you Niles!"

"You too!"

She had almost made it to the road before stopping, pivoting, and running back no Niles. Whipping out a pen, she grabbed his arm.

"Assuming you have a phone of any type. Contact me. Until next time!"
