1,500 words in the actual story? Sweet!

And to everyone else who has been consistently reading my chapters, please give me more requests! This is one of my last 2 for now, so more would be appreciated. Thanks!

He may be a little OOC. I'm not running around spouting lines from Shakespeare's plays all the time, so wordings may be off a bit. Oh well.

Onwards!-----

You gasped softly from your spot in the bushes, staring at the newly-implanted dagger in the tree. Merely inches from your face, the stray weapon glinted in the moonlight.

You returned your attention to your home- or rather what was left of it.

Hordes of Risen roamed the remains of the village, tearing down any survivors. They screamed in pain, begging for mercy in their final moments.

You would have tried to help them, but you were unarmed, untrained, and frankly? You enjoyed being unkilled.

The villager who had thrown the dagger shrieked, jumping away from the swing of an enemy's lance.

Before the Risen could swing again, however, a sword blocked the weapon's arc.

"Halt, fiend!"

'Finally!' you thought. 'I'm being saved!'

You peeked around the base of a tree to better see your savior, as well as see how your fellow townsman was doing.

CrAcK.

You looked down at the now-cracked branch under your knee, up to the Risen, who was glaring in your general direction. It swung at the blond swordsman, knocking him backwards with an audible thud.

'Uh-oh.'

It began stalking towards you, but was quickly knocked down by the swordsman.

"Oh no you don't!"

He quickly rushed past the lancer, running into the brush in front of you.

"Hello? Any reason you're here blondie?"

He stepped past the tree, coming to face you.

"Fear not, my friend! Your savior has arrived!"

'If you give a noble a thesaurus…'

He extended his hand to you, pulling you to your feet when you took it.

"Thank you, mister…?"

He chuckled, stepping back slightly. "No need for formalities! I am merely humble Owain, servant to the dark forces!"
