Chapter 24

Harvey's POV

2 weeks later...

I scanned through the jobs list in the newspaper. I really needed a new job, the library was shutting down.

I sighed and put down the paper, and examined Crystal. She was walking and spinning around, trying to get Melody to stop crying.

I laughed slightly and stood up, I walked over to Crystal and picked Melody up out of her arms.

I lifted her up and stared at her, she looked down at me and stopped crying, curious as to what I was doing.

I heard a knock on the door, and I brought her back down to me. Crystal stood up to get it but I stopped her.

"You've done enough, let me get it."

She nodded and sat down on the sofa, she was exhausted.

I adjusted Melody so she was laying on one of my arms, and opened the door with the other.

"Hey th- Oh my God she's ADORABLE!" Mitch squealed, jumping up and down in excitement.

I laughed and moved out of the way so Mitch and Jerome could come in. They sat on the sofa across from Crystal.

I took my seat next to Crystal, still holding my daughter. But soon changed my mind and headed over to the two boys.

"Any of you want to hold her?" I asked, Mitch nodded and I carefully placed her in his arms..

I sat back over next to Crystal, and watched as Mitch connected with our child.

Jerome whispered something into Mitch's ear, and it knocked him back quite a bit.

He looked down and stroked Melody's hand, after, he looked up and tears had started to form in his eyes.

"What's the matter Mitch?" Crystal asked, obviously noticing his position too.

Mitch shrugged and replied.

"I was just thinking back, about a year ago. If Harvey died when we shot him, this little angel wouldn't be here today."

I looked down, and back up at them, I could see now, they were actually genuinely sorry.

Mitch handed Melody over to Jerome, and he looked at her with care and security in his eyes.

They would make good fathers...
