•Part Seventeen

Ruby's POV

"Bear there's something you need to know about Deacon." I said with a worried tone.

"What? What is it ruby?!" He asked.

"He's your twin. For the first few weeks he made me believe that it was you. I couldn't believe my own brother would do this to me, until I started noticing certain things, the way he would say certain words, how he never ran his hands through his hair when he messed a word up or never clicked his fingers constantly when he was talking. It took me a while but I finally realised it wasn't you, I'm sorry for ever thinking it was."

His face dropped, "Ruby what are you talking about I don't have a twin." He said.

"You do. And axel and I are twins so twins must run somewhere in the family. I'm so sorry this is happening bear." I said

"Ruby you're acting crazy, I can't have a twin that's impossible, I've never had a twin." He said in disbelief.

"Bear, I promise you I'm not lying. And I had no idea you've been down here for that long, but... he's been posing as you, if you've been down here for as long as you say you have then he's been pretending to be you for a long, long time. I can't believe this is happening! Are you sure it's been since the day I got out of hospital?!" I asked starting to get into a panic.

"Yes! I left and you said Isaac was coming to keep you company, and as I was coming home that night, someone sprayed something in my face and that's the last thing I remember." He said.

Neither of us had any words, we sat in silence for what felt like hours.

Bear finally spoke.

He asked me what had been happening since he's been gone, I explained to him not much other than he got a promotion.

"Umm, so, you know my dad? Yeah he's back in our lives now..." I said.

"Reuben? Honey you know he's no good." Bear said, "I know, but he's changed. Honestly." I explained.

"As long as he's changed, and that he's not gonna leave again." He said.

Suddenly daylight shone through the window.

"He's gone." We both said at the same time, as soon as the sunlights hits we know that deacon will be gone, he always leave right around sunrise.

The night before we managed to get deacons keys from him as he always carries 2 sets, he must have not noticed.

We unlocked the first door, only to be met with a second door. we only had one key.

"Bear, you have to do something. We have to get out of here!" I said, "I know honey, I know. Run back in there and get me that plank of wood against the wall." He said.

Suddenly we heard footsteps upstairs.

"Go! Get back in, now!" Bear shouted, we ran back in and closed the door, bear threw the keys on the floor so that deacon would think he's dropped them and we hadn't noticed.

About 5 minutes later deacon came in.

"Ruby. Up." He said in a stern voice. "Why? Where are you taking me?" I asked.

He doesn't like it when I ask questions.

"Just hurry up." He said, he grabbed me and threw me over my shoulder, "you always have to make it difficult, don't you?" He said.

He led me down a hallway and into a room with a glass cell And a bed bed outside the cell, this can't be his bedroom, no one has a cell in their bedroom.
