At 7.30 I was waiting in the car park for Cody. I was a little surprised when Ross had said he’d meet me at the club. I’d asked him why but all he said was there was something he had to do. What that was, I had no idea.

I was nervous but excided for the upcoming evening. I had never felt like this in the prospect of performing. I had to admit, I thought by now I would be starting to freak out but I wasn’t. I was completely and utterly calm.

It must have been clear on my face how happy I was because when Cody’s car stopped in front of me and I climbed into the back seat, Jade said “What are you so smiley about?”

“I’m just happy.” I lied as I sat back in the seat and listened to Jade and Cody talk in the front.

The moment we were inside the club, I was looking for Ross. I tried to join in with the light convocation but I was distracted, until Ross strode up to us with a familiar grin planted on his face.

“Hey.” He said, sidling up to me.

“Hey.” I smiled, relief flooding through by veins. I hadn’t noticed until then but my muscles were tensing and panic was setting in.

Before I could say another word, he grabbed hold of my wrist and was pulling me across the dance floor. I knew where we were going before we even got there.

Once we reached the small wooden table, Ross quickly told the man behind it we wanted to perform and what instrument we both wanted, before the guy even got a chance to open his mouth.

The little man told us our slot was in twenty five minutes and we talked back over to the table. When they asked who was gonna sing, we lied and said it was just Ross. I wanted to surprise them.

After twenty minutes or so of dancing Ross and I lead the group up to the stage. The act before ours was just finishing, my stomach clenched uncomfortably but I ignored it. This time I knew I had nothing to worry about, Ross would be with me!

As the other act finished and the announcer walked onto stage, we were both handed a guitar. Jade gave me a questioning look. Smiling I said “I’m gonna singing with Ross.” Jade and Mia gave identical squeals of delight while the others chorused “That’s great” and “That’s brilliant.”

Just then I heard mine and Ross’s names being called and suddenly Ross’s hand was in mine and we were walking onto the stage.

Nausea flared suddenly but I fought it, I wasn’t going to give in, not again. Ross looked at me and I nodded to signal I was ready. The second he played the first chord, all my fears were lost in the music. A smile fixed on my face, I remembered all the words and didn’t mess up one chord. I had never felt like this before. Why had I been so scared to do this? This is amazing.

Much too quickly for my liking, the song was ending and Ross and I had to leave the stage. I skipped happily down the short flight of steps and was immediately ambushed by Mia, wrapping her arms around me in a tight hug. “That was amazing!” She squealed excitedly.

When Mia let we go I was passed around everyone else while they congratulated me. I came to Ross last and wrapped my arms around his neck while his were around my chest. I held on much longer than I had with anyone else but he didn’t seem to mind as he held just as tight. After a while we finally broke apart, before I knew what was happening his lips were on mine. He was kissing me and I was kissing him back. Everything around me seemed to melt away as if there was no one there but me and him. Time seemed to mean nothing in this world. I had no idea if we’d been there a second or an hour, at this particular moment in time I didn’t care.
