X's P.O.V:
It was locked.
Four must have the key.
All thoughts went back to him.
Four.
Four.
Four.
I had to do something to help him.
But what?
I glanced outside my window, spotting Five twirling around the empty streets. I wish I could join her, but it's not the time.
Wait...
I have an idea.
"Five!!" I call out, my voice cracking slightly. She turned her attention towards me quickly. "Yeah??" She squealed. "Jeez, X, I haven't talked to you since the incident with Se-" "N-Not the time, Five!!" I quickly cut her off. "Here, let me come outside." I sighed. She nodded, waiting.
I reach for my scarf, but pause, hesitating.
I shift my hand over,
and reach for Four's instead.
It's a plum purple, the shade matching perfectly with Four's colour. It was really beautiful seeing it on him, to be honest. It was such a good pairing with his natural colour, like basic red and his blue mixed together on a palette.
"X, are you coming or not?" Five yelled impatiently from outside. I heaved a sigh.
"Yes, Five, I'm coming."
Five's P.O.V:
What was taking X so long??
...and where was Four..?
X rushes out of the house, a plum scarf wrapped around his neck(?). The end trailed behind him in the cool winter breeze as he dashed towards me. "Five!!" He puffed. "...Yes?" I answered flatly, unimpressed. "Three... Three's g-got F-Four... in the E-Equation... the Equation... P-Playground...." He started to break down, barely managing to choke out the words he was telling me.
"Woah, slow down, there's no need to get all worked up like this..." I put my hand on his shoulder gently. "I always knew you and Four were close, but I didn't realize even just being away from him made you like this." I sighed, and X looked down at his feet.
I let out a weak giggle. "You two really are inseparable..." I thought for a moment. It's almost like they're in...
...oh.
Oh, X, you sly little variable.
I flashed a look at X. "Do you have something to tell me, buddy?" I snickered quietly.
He looked up at me, shocked and confused. "What do you mean, Five?" He asked innocently.
"You're crushing on Mr. Zappies, aren't you, X?"
X's face suddenly flushed a dark shade of tangerine. "W-what?! N-no, we're j-just really... really, r-really..." he stuttered hastily.
"..c-close."
Five knew the truth now.
"Fine. Now tell me what happened to your blue boyfriend."
"D-DON'T CALL HIM THAT!!"
"BUT YOU'RE EVEN WEARING HIS SCARF!!"
"FINE, OKAY!!"
