X's P.O.V:
I've only been skating for about an hour with Four and I'm already getting the hang of it! Four's a really great teacher... I've learned so much already! I can glide on my own around the rink, and skate backwards if Four spots me!! I'm having the best time of my life...
Four takes my hand and we skate laps around the rink, talking a bit more about drama we've noticed between the contestants. "It seems like Book doesn't really like Taco that much... and Gaty is trying to convince her that she should. And have you SEEN Saw's new look??" I chirrup. Four nods at me eagerly. "Do you think maybe we should let the contestants vote some time soon?" He asks curiously. "That would certainly cause some drama!" I squeak, squeezing his hand tighter. Suddenly, something red catches my eye.
It disappears without a trace.
I shrug it off.
Four's P.O.V:
There's a huge skylight above the rink, and it seems to be getting kind of dark outside. As much as I'm enjoying this, we have to head back home. "X, it's getting kind of late. Let's get going, okay?" I look over at him. "Aw, okay. This was a lot of fun, we should do this again sometime!!" X grins, making my heart go through the roof.
If only I could tell him how I really felt.
We exited the rink and quickly tucked into Three's rental shop to return the skates. I should buy X some skates of his own, soon. I would've brought mine, but that would give away where we were going. It doesn't matter anymore, anyways. Three glared at us as we put our skates on his counter. But it wasn't just a glare... there was a glimmer of curiosity in his eyes that I didn't trust.
He wanted to know something.
Something he shouldn't.
As we walked outside, heavy, dark grey clouds gathered above us. The sky looked lifeless. "I think it's going to-" X began. A loud boom of thunder erupted from the clouds as hard rain started to fall. "...rain." He muttered. Droplets of rain spattered onto the stone sidewalk we were standing on, soaking our heads. "It's too far to walk to our apartment in all of this rain, X. Let's wait at the bus stop to take us home faster." X nodded at me in pure agreement as we set off towards the stop.
X's P.O.V:
It was so cold out here... the rain sure wasn't helping. Four didn't look even phased by the cold. In fact, he looked kind of, uh, warm? I reached out for his hand in a silent plead he would take mine. I felt him hesitate, but then loosen his hand enough for me to interlock my fingers with his. My hand was warming up, but the rest of me was freezing. I shivered again. Four noticed this and pulled me a bit closer.
A few minutes later we reached the bus stop, the rain pounding even harder than it had been before. Four gestured for me to sit down on a bench. I did so, and he sat down next to me, his hand still with mine. I saw something red flash in my vision somewhere. It was probably just a... red... car? A little bit nervous, I scooted a little closer to Four, hoping it would warm me up. In response, Four wrapped his arms around me until I felt a little bit less chilly. The rain hit so hard on us that it almost stung, but I didn't exactly notice. Four's eyes were locked on me. His face was inches away from mine, so close I could feel his hot breath hit my cheek. What's going on?! He just froze, staring. He was leaning a bit closer.
And then...
A blaring honk came from the bus that arrived, making both of our heads bonk together as we jumped in surprise. Four spat a curse at the driver. "Are you getting on, or are you two too busy being all lovey-dovey?" I heard the driver sneer. "We were NOT- ugh, never mind." Four groaned, letting go of me. I rubbed my head from the impact. It wasn't that bad, though.
But what if we weren't interrupted?
What was Four going to do?
