X's P.O.V:

I sighed. Was it really that obvious?
"Fine, Five. I like him. It's no big deal."
"Yes it is, X!! It's now my responsibility to get you two lover boys together!!" She argued, making me groan. "I swear, if you tell him..."

"Chill, I'll try not to. I'll only tell him if you die or something, deal?" Five retorted. Now, here's the thing about Five. She doesn't keep promises. But it's not like I have a choice or anything...

"Okay. Deal." I grumbled.

"So what do you want me to do about your captured digit, anyways?" She asked. "He's not mine." "Well, not yet he isn't. Answer my question, dude." I stare at her, frustrated.

"Here's my plan." I start.

-Timeskip-

"X, you're a genius." Five gasped.
"Thanks, I guess... but we actually need to get this plan into action." I mumbled. "The nicest person we know is..." Five thought out loud for a moment.

"How about Eight?"
"Yeah, he's nice." I nodded. "Where does he live?" "You sound like a stalker, X." "I AM NOT A STALKER, FIVE, WE NEED TO GET FOUR BACK!!"

We soon arrived at Eight's house. It was built with dark grey bricks, the outside coated in wild ivy. The front door was a dull white, as was the roof. The home was rather small, but beautiful nonetheless. There were bushes of colourful flowers on the front lawn and potted plants lining the walkway to the entrance. "This guy sure loves plants." Five muttered under her breath loud enough for me to hear. "Yeah..." I whispered, in awe at the beautiful sight. The dull colours of the house made the green of each plant pop drastically.

"Ya done taking everything in, palette kid?"
Five's remark shook me out of my thoughts. "Ya done criticizing everything I do, dog kid?"
I shot back.
"Woah, what's wrong with having five dogs?" She questioned.

"Nothing, I'm just irritated and suck at roasts."

Five and I walk past the potted plants to the front door. I raise my hand to knock, but hesitate.

knock knock knock

"Hello? Wh-who's there?!" I hear a shaky voice call from inside. "It's Five." I call back. "And... X." I hesitantly add.

"X? Aren't you the lucky one? Seven's little brother?" Eight gasps from inside. "Oh my, pardon my b-behaviour, I, uh, one s-second..." he stutters even more.

Suddenly, the door is opened by a possessed vine.

Inside, plants and greenery cover each wall and crevice, each shelf and floor space, and even hanging on the ceiling

Eight stood in the middle, the vine retreating back into his hand.

"W-what do you n-need, X?"

Eight's P.O.V:

The lucky variable is at my home?
I wasn't prepared!! I'm going to make a bad impression on him...

Every number and variable loves X.
Actually, let me rephrase that.
Every number and variable wants X.

For his value.

Why do you think Seven is dead?

A war broke out over him, and X will probably be next.

Seven was so overwhelmed, that he...
Well, he...

He just...

Stopped.

"Uh, Eight?" X asked, snapping me back to reality.

"O-oh, sorry, X,,!!" I stammered. "Yes, w-what would you like?"

"We need to get Four back."

My heart nearly stopped at the statement.
A variable, more importantly, a lucky variable, sticking up for an unlucky number?

Outrageous!

Yet again, this is X we're talking about. If I were to be on his side, he could possibly stay with me... I would be lucky. Imagine that.

If Four, an unlucky numeral, were to stay with X, he would have an average life. Now if I, a standard numeral, had a bond with X...

Life could be a dream.

"T-tell me the story, X..."
I mumble.

"I-I'm willing to help you."
