They sat there in awkward silence as no one knew how to properly start this conversation, one second ago they were so certain about this, but now it seemed like the words were stuck in their throats. "Promise me something Jon" Dany said and Jon sighed in relief that she finally broke the silence "Yeah sure, what is it?" "Don't be mad at me, I wanna solve issues and not create more" "Why should I be mad at you?" "Because I'm gonna tell you nothing but the truth, and you might not like what I have to say" "I probably know what you want to say and I can promise you that this won't happen" "No you can't, 'cause you don't know the whole truth" at first he was still smiling but then a shiver ran down his spine, he started getting nervous, what could she probably tell him that he didn't already knew? What could cause even more problems? What if he didn't want to hear the whole truth, in case she was right and he will get mad at her. What if this whole thing makes everything even worse? He noticed her lips moving but couldn't hear a thing, it was like he was trapped in his head. "Sorry what?" he interrupted her as she just looked confused "I'm sorry I couldn't hear a thing you were saying" he stuttered "Jon is everything alright?" "Yeah, yeah it's fine, I must've been distracted or something, sorry, go on" as he tried to play it cool again she had already figured out this lie within seconds, Dany must've heard those words combined with this fake smile a million times by now, so she knew it didn't mean fine at all "I thought we are having an honest conversation here? Jon you know you're a bad liar and I know it at least as well as you do, so what is it?" he knew he couldn't argue with this, she knew him far to well, so he stopped smiling at once and got very serious "I'm scared that the truth will destroy us once again" those words reminded her of similar ones she told him after the feast when they had defeated the White Walkers and he wasn't wrong. The truth had destroyed them, and it was weird hearing him say the words as he wouldn't believe her back then "I'm starting to think you're trying to impersonate me, again you're saying the same words I did that you wouldn't believe me back then" "Well I guess you were right all along" "Jon stop saying this, this time it's different, it would be wrong not to tell the truth this time" it was silent again "No Dany I can't" "You can't?" he just nodded as he stood up, facing his back towards her "No I can't" "Yeah you can't, you can't be serious right now" he turned back to her "But I am, I cannot do this Dany, you said it yourself, what if I get mad at you? What if this just makes it worse?" she didn't reply "Dany can you promise me that's not gonna happen?" Why was he like that? Why would he always back off when stuff really got serious? It wasn't always like that, otherwise he wouldn't have come that far, she probably wouldn't be here if he had been like that all along. Like when they got to know each other he never did things like that, he stood strong to his point, he wouldn't mind disagreeing with her, but now it was the complete opposite. "No I cannot, but damn it Jon you were the one suggesting this in the first place, you cannot avoid it as soon as it gets serious" "You don't know what I can or cannot do" he told her angrily "Why are you changing your mood so fast? Did I leave the room at some point, when did you get mad at me for no reason?" "I'm not mad at you" he spat at her as she just sighed "Jon please remember why we wanted to do this, do you notice that your childish behaviour only makes it worse right now?" he didn't reply "Are you even listening to what I say?" she then added, but still no response "Jon? Are you still here? Be angry or whatever but please say something" she couldn't understand why he was behaving like that, but instead of giving her a proper answer he was just looking at her and she couldn't figure out what the hell he was trying to do right now "You're right" he suddenly said after at least a minute of complete silence
"I remember why I wanted to start this, I started this to save our relationship, but if this destroys it than I'm not having this conversation" "Not talking won't help either and you know that, we need to do this no matter the cost, it cannot be worse than this.." he said nothing again and it started to piss her off "I said not talking won't help either" "Then start, I'll listen" she sighed as she stood up and walked towards him, she couldn't stand when he was like that, but it helped her bringing everything up that she wanted to say.
