(A/N: I was bored, so I decided to publish a second chapter.)
Well, it had officially been a month since that night, and Spinel had actually been showing up a lot more at Steven's house.
Nearly every time you came over, she was there.
She was pretty fun, and entertaining, so long as you guys weren't just sharing awkward glances towards each other and first hellos.
This, thankfully, wasn't one of those times.
Amethyst had become obsessed with that show, so she was watching it in the background while you, Spinel, and Steven were standing in the kitchen, having a very grownup discussion about gummy bears.
"They're shaped like bears, they're colorful, they're delicious, what more could you want?" Steven said to Spinel.
"Well, besides the ones that give you diarrhea." You added. He nodded, while Spinel just made a confused expression.
"You don't wanna know." You quickly told her, as if reading her mind. She nodded, still clearly not convinced she didn't wanna know.
Then, Steven turned his attention to his phone. "Oh, Connie wants to show me something. Be right back, okay?" He said.
"Okay." You and Spinel said in sync, then looking at each other awkwardly.
"So, what do you wanna do?" You asked after Steven left. "I don't know, what do people usually like to do?" Spinel replied. "Uh, well, some people like to draw. You...wanna do that?" You offered. Spinel nodded. "Sure."
You guys got out some paper, and just started randomly doodling. You were sprawled out on Steven's bed, while Spinel was sitting on the floor right next to it.
You had offered for her to sit up on the bed with you, but she politely declined.
You were drawing a girl, but that got boring pretty easy. Your eyes shifted over to Spinel's paper.
It looked to be a garden of some sorts, with roses everywhere. No trees, though. "That looks really good. You said. She smiled.
This time, it wasn't her usual small ones, but a little bit bigger than that. "Thanks." She said, pressing a bit hard on the grass. You leapt down from the bed, and right next to her on the floor.
"You draw often?" She asked you. You shook your head. "Nah. I suck at it, anyways." You replied.
"I bet you don't." Spinel said.
"Oh, really?" You said.
She snickered. You brought your paper over from the bed to Spinel. She looked at it. "That doesn't suck! That's pretty good." She said.
You scoffed, and smiled when you thought she wasn't looking.
Suddenly, you heard a thump right next to you guys.
And there was Amethyst, all spread out on the bed. "Whatcha guys doing?" She asked. "Drawing." Spinel replied. "Nice." Amethyst said, looking up at the ceiling.
"Your show run out of episodes?" You asked. Amethyst nodded, suddenly putting on an angry expression. "Yeah! It ends at season 56! That's some bull-"
The door opened with squeak. "Hey guys, I'm back." Steven announced. "Hey, Steven!" Spinel greeted him with a grin.
He jumped up in the air and all the way onto the bed in a sitting position. "So, what'd you guys do while I was gone?" He asked you guys.
"Oh, we just drew. What'd Connie have to show you?" You replied. "Some stuff that she learned at space camp." He replied. "Ah. Cool."
You couldn't stop looking at Spinel's drawing. It was honestly really beautiful. You couldn't draw like that in your wildest dreams.
Then, you got thinking. There were a lot of roses, so...she must like flowers! That gave you an idea.
You bounced up quickly, startling everyone. "I'll be right back, guys!" You said, quickly rushing down the steps and out the door. "Wait! Where are you going?" You could hear Spinel say just before you shut the door.
You grinned. This would be great.
-
You opened the door, now only seeing Steven in the kitchen and Spinel still sitting near the bed. "Back!" You said, just loud enough for them both to hear you.
They both looked over at you. "Hey! Where'd you go, Y/N?" Steven asked, taking a bite of a granola bar. "Oh, just to get something..." You said, smiling.
He knew that smile. He knew that something was up.
You went up the steps, and by now Steven could see what was behind your back. He smiled, realizing that two of his friends were finally coming together.
You tapped Spinel on the shoulder, and she looked over at you. "Oh, hi, Y/N!" She greeted you. You grinned.
"Let's play a game." You said. "Close your eyes, and hold out your hands."
Spinel chuckled. "Alright." She said, doing that. You gently placed it in her hands. "Alright, open 'em!" You cheered.
She opened her eyes, and smiled. "Aw, gee, flowers for me? Thanks, Y/N!" She said. You nodded with a smile.
"Your drawing made it look like you really liked flowers, so that's why I did this." You explained happily. She curled her arms around the bouquet protectively.
"Oh, so that's why you rushed out so fast!" Steven laughed. You flushed. You had almost forgot Steven was there.
Spinel bounced up and down happily with her flowers, almost like a dance.
You smiled. Maybe things wouldn't be so awkward now.
(A/N: Welp. If somebody shows an interest in this, I'll continue.)
