Darkness. It was the only thing that surrounded you. But not the pleasant type of darkness, like when you woke up in the morning and Spinel was snuggling into your chest. This was the suspicious type of darkness, and it put you on edge.
You tried to open your mouth and yell out 'hello?' as a natural reflex, but it wouldn't open. Neither would your arms and legs move.
Then, the darkness faded away, and you were back in the bed. But Spinel wasn't there.
'Spinel?' you tried to say, but your mouth still wouldn't open. Then, horror struck your heart. You tried to struggle and wriggle your way out of this situation, not much different to how you struggled and wriggled underneath Spinel's viscous tickle attacks just the night before, but to no avail.
Then, you saw a shadow looming over the bed. You could just see the faint outline of star shaped things on each side of the stranger, when suddenly, they struck like a viper, and—
"Y/N, time to wake up!"
You gave a blood curdling scream and flopped off of the bed, falling headfirst onto the ground. Your head was spinning.
Wait, you just moved! You wiggled your fingers in front of your face, and sure enough, you could move again. "Y/N!" Spinel cried, maneuvering over to you faster than a bullet and bending down on her knees next to you.
She used her thumb to lift your chin up to look at her. "Are you okay?!" She panicked.
You panted heavily, sweat pouring down your face. "I think so."
"What happened?!" Spinel questioned. You replied, "I just had a weird nightmare, it's nothing to worry about, Spinel."
She cocked her head to the side. "Night...mare?"
You sighed, and explained to her the concept of dreams and night terrors.
"Oh. I get it now. Well, don't worry, doll, I'm here if you have another one." She comforted you, wrapping you into an embrace. You embraced her back. You two were a mess of arms and legs.
But you loved that mess.
You loved it so much, in fact, that you began to fall deeply into a sleep not plagued by nightmares, but filled with only thoughts of your goofy crystal girlfriend, your hero.
-
You woke up in Spinel's lap, not wanting to move but knowing that you had to. You turned your head to look her in the eyes. She looked down at you and smiled, lovingly ruffling your hair. "Hey," She said, quietly but not quite a whisper.
You smiled back. "Hey," You replied, sitting up slowly.
"You...wanna play a game?" Spinel suggested. You stroked your chin in thought. "Hmmm, I have a better idea..."
-
"Spinel, you can't eat the batter!" You cried. "Why not?" She asked. "Because then we can't make the cookies!" You insisted. She stopped, and you let out a groan.
"Funny how the only food you'll even let touch your mouth is cookie batter," You said, shaking your head playfully and picking up the wooden ladle to stir the batter.
"Can I do it?" Spinel asked you. "Uhh, sure." You said, shrugging and handing her the ladle. She begin to stir so fast that within five seconds all of the batter was on the floor.
You just looked down and stared, your brain not quite processing it yet.
"Uhh, Y/N?" Spinel asked nervously, afraid that she'd done something wrong.
She waved her hand in front of your face, with no response.
After about a minute, you began to laugh maniacally, and you ran towards the bed, waving your arms around like a lunatic.
Spinel's eyes widened, and she was extremely concerned for your mental health.
"Did I just break you?!" She cried, running after you.
"Y/N, I'm sorry!"
