Meliodas could hear her heavy breathing, it didn't either help that Elizabeth wouldn't look at him.
"Hey, your family can see us. Let me help you to the bathroom." Meliodas told her. Elizabeth didn't say anything and just walked all the way to the bathroom.
It was a good thing that the hallway to the ladies' bathroom was enclosed and not a lot of people could see them, so they were able to talk.
"Are you okay?" Meliodas asked, Elizabeth didn't look at him. "Are you still mad?"
Meliodas didn't know if he just heard his heart sink or if he just blacked out. But he was panicked, "What? No. No. I'm not, i'm sorry I got mad. I'm really sorry."
Elizabeth then slowly looked at him, "Really?"
Meliodas gave her a comforting smile, "Yes, I'm not mad anymore. Are you?"
"I'm not, I'm sorry I snapped last night." Elizabeth apologized. Meliodas sighed, "It's alright, I have a mistake there too."
Elizabeth sighed in relief, "So are we okay now?"
Meliodas looked at her side, where she was holding. "What happened?"
Elizabeth then suddenly felt guilty, "It's a long story, can we talk about this after dinner? They might be looking for us."
As much as he wanted to talk about it, she was right. "Alright, let's go."
*
They came back to their table and Caroline looked at Elizabeth, "How's your bruise, honey?"
Meliodas' eyes widened, but luckily none of them saw. Elizabeth internally screamed as she gave her other a forced smile, "I'm managing, but i'm fine."
"Good." Caroline nodded and proceeded to eat her food.
As for Meliodas, he just sat there, slowly eating his dinner as a hundred thoughts came to his head. Thankfully, Bartra caught his attention.
"Meliodas?" He called, making Meliodas look at Bartra in the eyes with a smile. "Yes, sir?"
"What are your parents' jobs?" Bartra asked. "They work overseas, sir. My mother is a business woman while my father is an engineer."
Bartra smiled at him, "Those are wonderful jobs, you have siblings?"
"I have one, sir. His name is Zeldris." Meliodas answered with a smile. "I see you have the same home setting as Elizabeth. Although you're the older brother, I assume?"
Meliodas nodded and Bartra chuckled and proceeded to finish his meal.
The whole time they were at dinner, Meliodas would usually be listening to the stories that anyone would bring up, he also had a fair share of stories.
But the only thing on his mind was Elizabeth. He was worried about what happened to her and he wasn't aware. It frustrated him because no one told him, but not to the point of snapping.
He wasn't mad. He was just frustrated that he wasn't there for her. What ever pain that she could have experienced, he wasn't there for her. Anything she wanted to vent out or tell him, he couldn't be there.
Now all he could feel was guilt.
But he couldn't do anything, he had to put up a front like Elizabeth is doing now. He just had to wait for the dinner to be over so they could talk.
And, it soon ended. The night went by well and Meliodas seemed to be on the good side with Elizabeth's family. Barta and Caroline was fond of the three boys that seemed to really like their daughters.
They were happy.
"So, I'll take off." Caroline told all of them, before kissing her daughters on the cheeks. "I will as well. Will you boys take care of my girls?" Bartra asked.
"Yes, sir." All three of them said at the same time, making Bartra chuckle. He then hugged his daughters and they entered Bartra's car and drove off.
"It's funny that he just left us with boys." Veronica chuckled. "I mean, he trusts us." Margaret smiled.
"So, where are you two headed?" Margaret asked Veronica. "Hey, there's an arcade place nearby. Wanna go?" Veronica asked Griamor. "Yes, and I will beat you at everything this time."
Veronica snorted, "You wish. How about you two?" She asked Margret and Gil. "We were planning to watch a movie." Gil shrugged.
"At this hour?" Elizabeth asked, "I mean, Veronica and Griamor are playing games all night." Gil chuckled.
"True." Elizabeth nodded. "You guys? Where you headed?" Margaret asked, "We're just gonna walk around the park, I guess?" Elizabeth answered.
"That's quite far from here." Veronica told her. "Oh, I have a car. I borrowed Ban's." Meliodas popped in the conversation.
"Alright, all of you be safe. Be home by 12." Margaret told them. Everyone nodded and headed to anywhere they wanted to go.
The two were silent as they reached Ban's car. Meliodas had to help Elizabeth get up the car and was careful as he did so, because he didn't know where the bruise was.
As they drove, they were silent. Until Meliodas asked a question, "Are you cold?"
Elizabeth noticed that she was rubbing her arms to keep herself warm. She didn't say anything because Meliodas pulled over to get a jacket from the back seat and carefully put it over Elizabeth's shoulders.
"Thanks." Was all Elizabeth said and they once again drove off. All Elizabeth could think of the whole ride was how the jacket smelled so much like Meliodas.
She missed him and being around him, and even though he was right next to him, she had the urge to hug him even though they seemed tense.
They then parked by the main entrance of the park. Meliodas helped Elizabeth get down and entered and looked for a table by the trees.
Once they found one, they sat on the tables and landed their feet on the seats. They sat next to each other and just let the moon stare down at them.
It didn't take a while until Meliodas spoke. "What happened?" It was quiet but Elizabeth could hear it.
She took a deep breathe and looked down at her shoes. "During you hell week, I was hospitalized."
"Funny thing is, it was because I slipped. I fell on the floor but I hit my side really bad that caused a bruise." Elizabeth explained.
"That was why you didn't attend school that one day?" Meliodas asked, Elizabeth nodded. "I even looked for you that time Diane went to our class."
His response made Elizabeth smile, "I'm sorry I didn't tell you. I didn't want you to worry while you're experiencing major stress."
"I'm sorry." Meliodas apologized, making Elizabeth look at him. She saw his face, his hurt and sad expression mixed with guilt.
"I'm sorry that I made you feel that you couldn't tell me." Meliodas told her. Elizabeth got guilty, "I really didn't want you to worry. I wanted to tell you after everything was over."
"I couldn't be there when you were sent to the hospital, I could have come for a bit. I could have at least been there." Meliodas sighed, looking down.
"It's really okay. I understood that you were busy and weren't able to tell me about your day like usual. I just waited for your small but sweet messages every morning and every night." Elizabeth told him.
"I waited for you everyday of that hell week of yours, and I guess so much happened and I snapped. I'm sorry."
Meliodas simply looked at her with a small smile, "Thank you." Elizabeth was confused, "Thank you? For what?"
"Thank you for waiting for me everyday, even though you knew I wouldn't be able to do much." Meliodas told her. "Of course."
He didn't take his eyes off her, she was just so beautiful under the moon's light. "I love you." He then blurted out.
