"Sir Barry, Mr. Kugimiya is now available."

"formal as always" Barry smiled at Diana, the fifty-year old secretary of his father.

Diana smiled, she's was able to witnessed all the ups and downs of the Kugimiya family. she is one of the family's most trusted aids including her husband who also works for the family's security team. her mother works as Secretary with Barry's grandfather. and when her mother retired, she assumed the position. she is just five years younger than Yoshio, they grew up together. Hence, they treat each other as family.

she witnessed how Barry grew up and drifted away from his father.  Seeing him again on the place that Barry's great great grandfather built is like seeing a prince in his home coming.

Barry is like a son to her and just like Yoshio, she knows Barry can do greater things and thinks Barry is too strong willed to be controlled by Yoshio. unlike Barry's father Yoshio knows how to blend but still maintains their family's old traditions.     and Barry is the new blood. she only hopes what that their meeting today will have a good outcome.

Barry entered his father's office, to what he calls the throne room. nothing has change. the office is almost 300 square meters, with a private lounge and bar, conference room and the main office. his father's room is sorrounded by books, and original paintings from the likes of Haripitak, Amorsolo and his most prized possession by Ma Yuan.

his father was standing near the office's full glass bullet proof window and was talking on his mobile phone when Barry comes in.

Barry remained standing while he waited for his father. he overheard him talking about finding more about debtor.

Yoshio, felt his son's presence and give him a glance as he ended his conversation.

"have a seat" he said.

Barry just shakes his head as Yoshio settles himself on the head seat.

"what's your decision?" his father asks.

"no"

Yoshio looks at his son.

"have you tried looking at a bigger picture? you can help more and earn more if you help me buy that land."

the land his father talks about is the 500 hectares of land in Pattaya that his father's company wants to develop and currently home and work to the farmers of his cooperative. it is one of his pet community sustainability projects and he can't just give that up. 150 families will be displaced.

"the deal is good, these families will be given work"

"how about their home?"

"if they have work, they can have a home"

"we are talking about 40 to 60 year old farmers, do you want me to think that they will have a place from your luxury private hotel and resort?"

"if you have the money, in premium price, am sure you can find a place for them"

"why not look somewhere else?" Barry retorted.

"haven't you realise that these are all for you?"

"no" he answered "and I don't have any ounce of intention to own it."

"Tonto!" Yoshio shouts "I am so disappointed in you"

Barry just look at his father.

"when are you going to believe me and put your loyalty to our family?" he said angrily

"my loyalty to this family should never be a question" Barry answered in a stern voice.

"if you do, you do what is best for this family!"

"you only want me to do your decisions,  and that is your only basis of loyalty" he fired back

"my intention is always for what is good for you and to this family"

"i also have a life and decision of my own"

"you can't even find your self a suitable wife!"

"is this is what this meeting all about? us again discussing what i need to do?   and just to let you know, i already have."

"who?" asked Yoshio "the daughter of a gambler?"

Barry was taken aback but he was not surprised about the  extent on how his father  knows about Yaya.

"she is not her daughter by blood"

"she raised her and I tell you, they only need one thing from you"

Barry scoofs

"they only want your money! do you think they are so damn loyal to you? just throw some hard cash and they will be running away from you"

"you don't know them"

"hah!" Yoshio replied. "at the end of this line, it is always be family"

"i wouldn't be surprised if that whore of yours will be pregnant  and asks you to marry her so she can have more"

Barry's fist hardened. he is one breath closer to forgetting that he is his father and so he decides to turn his back.

but he stops when he heard his father said, "cast this on stone , if one of those incidents I have said happen, you will come back and will be needing this very position"

"it will never happen" Barry answered.
