Pitstop

"Nadine" Barry called.

"Barry, am glad you you made it." She answered as she embraced him.

"It's been four weeks. Are there any development?" said Barry while looking at Nadine and James.

"We are about to hear from Dr. Lino, it is something about papa's latest results" answered James

Silence.

Barry takes a seat.

Dr. lino, Hugh' Attending Physician called for a family conference and they are inside the hospital's conference room near the critical care area.

"I'm currently in negotiation with the other two patients from the accident. Nadine, there is nothing to worry about okay. Its handled. You just take care of uncle."

"Thanks Barry., i can't help but worry with dad's condition though ."

"Nadine, everythings gonna be alright... who knows Dr Lino might want to advise when are we going to take him home." Said james

Nadine just leans in to her husband james for strength.

Silence.

A few minutes later, Dr Lino comes inside the room.

"Doc Ninong?" Asked Nadine

Dr Lino, greeted them with a nod.

"I want to be honest with you, Nadine, James, Barry...  Hugh's condition is deteriorating. "

"What do you mean Doc?" Asked James

"Complications, he is now sufferring from multiple organ failure."

Nadine asked, "what are the chances?" Her voice is now cracking.

"Do we need to transfer him Doc? Treatment abroad? I can now make an arrangement. What do you need? Tell us Doc? We can also get the equipment...."

"Barry, we now have 80 percent of chances losing him. His body is already rejecting the medications and not responding to the required treatment. Making his vital organs to deteriorate. I suggest you now spend more time with him... we don't want to prolong his agony"

Doc Lino bows his head.

All of them know that Doc lino was the best in the field of Internal medicine. His researches are world renowned and acclaimed. His assessments are accurate.

Nadine cries and embraced her husband.

"When can we see him Doc?" Barry asked.

"He is now awake. If you are with him, try to be strong. He told me, he don't want to see you guys crying" he said this while looking at Nadine.

Nadine felt her knees weakened, and was supported by her husband. Her cries louder and in pain.

"I'll go see the old man." Said Barry.

Doc Lino asked Hugh's bedside Nurse to assist Barry in wearing Personal protective Suit.

As he enters the room, coldness envelopes him and isn't sure if this is coming  from the aircondition or seeing his uncle with many medical equipment attached to him.

"Hi there old man."

Hugh just looked at him.

"This is the first time, you failed to react on that one." He chuckles.

"How do you feel? If you are good press my hand"

Barry felt the pressure from his hands.

"We still have few matches to win, I want you to be there... "

No hand movement from Hugh

"Your idea to provide health assistance to our farmers, will take place next month... please be there... that is your project..."

No hand movement...

Barry, is now trying hard not to show his emotions. He felt that his uncle is slipping...

"Hugh, i don't know what to do if you are not there pestering me and ranting me to be a good guy. how can I be okay?"

Barry saw Hugh's eyes light up a little and feels pressure in his hands.

Hugh, as he is weaked by his condition tries to remove his oxygen mask...

Barry looked at the Nurse if its okay...

Nurse answered its okay.. as long as it is only for a few minutes...

Barry, leaned in to hear his uncle's voice..

He heard him say... "better be damn good. I trust you"

Instead of Hugh holding his hands, Barry placed a pressure on his uncle's hands. Holding him and forcing himself not to break from his emotions.

"Ive got two requests.."

"Anything Uncle..." he answered..

"Reconcile with your father... "

Barry just closed his eyes..

"... and take care of the girl from the accident."

Barry was surprised with his uncle's words. The last words he hears from him. His uncle's last pitstop.
