32} Scavenger Hunt

♡ Emily's POV ♡

I woke up to sunshine beaming on my face. There was a smile plastered on my face but it was quickly wiped away because Liam was nowhere to be found. I picked up my phone and checked the time, 9:00. I put my phone back down on the table and saw a note laying there that I hadn't noticed before. I picked up the note and on the front there was my name written in his handwriting. I quickly flipped open the note and read what was inside.

'Good morning beautiful! Today is a very special day! Your next clue is waiting for you in the kitchen.'

How cute... A scavenger hunt. But why was today so special? It's not any specific event that I'm aware of. I hope I didn't miss anything...

I got up and quickly brushed my hair straight. I placed my glasses on the bridge of my nose and rushed downstairs. As I reached the bottom I saw Harry on the couch.

"Good morning Emily!" He greeted with a smile.

"Morning Harry!" I smiled and waved on my way to the kitchen.

There was another note taped to the fridge. I picked it up and flipped it open.

'You smell sweeter than a mountain's dew. Harry awaits with your next clue.'

I laugh at his cheesy compliment and collect the note. I walk out of the kitchen and Harry now has a wrapped box with a big ribbon on his lap. He handed it to me and smiled.

"What's going on Harry?" I ask, taking the present from him.

"I can't tell you it'll ruin the surprise." He laughed. "Well I have to go but I hope you have a wonderful day."

He gave me a quick hug and then jogged out the door. I heard his car start and then leave the driveway. I sat down on the couch with the box in my lap. I took off the lid and inside looking up at me was a small Australian Shepherd puppy. He was mostly grey with brown spots and a white belly.

"Aw!" I cried out, picking him up.

He barked and licked my face repeatedly. I laughed and set him down on the couch next to me. On his neck was a red ribbon tied into a bow. Hanging off the side was another paper note.

'So you've found the third note! Hope you like your puppy! We'll figure out a name for him later. But now you have to go to the place we had our first date and your next clue is where we ate.'

I tore the note from the puppy's ribbon and pet him another time before walking to the door. Another note was taped right at my eye level.

'You didn't think I'd let you walk do you? Take my keys they'll drive you to your next clue.'

I grabbed Liam's keys off the table next to the door and went out to his car. It's been a while since I've driven... I had my license but I haven't driven a car since I got it. Of course I remember how to drive, I should probably just take it slow.

I got into the driver's seat and started the engine. As I pulled out of the driveway I got a text from Liam.

'See you soon!'

I quickly typed a reply and set my phone down while I continue to drive to the park where me and Liam had our first date. I was so excited for my surprise at the end of this scavenger hunt that I was jittery. I had to admit I was nervous for what was going to come. But I couldn't help but to look forward to it.

I drove up to the small park and pulled into a parking spot, taking the key out of the ignition. I climbed out of Liam's car and locked it as I walked towards the meadow where we had our first date over a year ago.
