♡ Emily's POV ♡
"I wouldn't hurt her for anything! It's you that would break her heart and hurt her! I don't know if you noticed but you have a very bad reputation for being a man-whore!" Liam shouted pointing a finger at Harry.
"Liam!" I screamed at him.
Harry stood still. I couldn't even tell if he was breathing. But his fists were clenched, knuckles turning white. I repeatedly looked back and forth waiting for someone to reply. I gently gripped Harry's arm and he took a look over my shoulder. His gaze didn't soften. It was the hard, cold green eyes I'd hoped I never had to see.
"Take it back..." Harry mumbled.
"Why should I?!" Liam snaps.
I could tell that Harry was about to explode... I didn't want the two people I loved most to fight. I wasn't going to let them fight.
I hesitantly stepped out from behind Harry and in between the two fuming band mates.
"Calm down. Both of you..." I warn looking back and forth between them.
"Emily did you not just-?!" Harry screamed but I quickly interrupted him.
"I heard him! But that doesn't mean you should fight! You're best mates for crying out loud! Don't jeopardize that... You don't want to ruin anything just because of a stupid little kiss..."
As I glanced at Harry his face fell and I immediately knew I had said that wrong. I didn't mean it that way... It wasn't bad at all. Kissing Harry was actually, enjoyable.
"You're right I'm sorry... I'll just be up in my room." Harry said and shuffled up the staircase and disappeared.
My heart sank. I didn't mean to hurt him. I should have thought before I said. But no... Once again Emily has ruined everything...
Zayn stood up from the floor holding his right arm. There was a long gash from his elbow to his wrist and it had just started to bleed.
"Zayn I am so sorry..." Liam says rushing to his friend's side.
"It's fine Liam." Zayn says walking to the kitchen not meeting Liam's eyes.
"Zayn this is all my fault I-" Liam started.
"Just leave it alone Liam!" Zayn screamed and stared into Liam's eyes.
They locked gazes for a moment but Zayn eventually broke it and walked into the kitchen. Liam hung his head and made his way over to me, mumbling something that sounded like I've ruined everything. His glossy eyes came up to meet mine and seemed as if he was asking me for forgiveness.
"Em?" Liam asks.
"Yeah?" I reply.
"We need to talk..."
"What about?"
"Everything... Please?"
"Yeah sure."
I whirled around to look at Louis and Niall who were sitting on the couch with a confused expression on their faces. They shrugged at me and I followed Liam up stairs into a room that I assumed was his.
He went over to the window and put a hand on the back of his neck as he gazed out of the glass. I quietly shut the door behind me and leaned against the wall next to it.
It was awkwardly quiet and I played with the bottom of my sleeve. Pulling on the loose thread hanging off the end.
"Emily... I can't do this anymore..." Liam finally says resting on his forearm that's pressed to the wall opposite of me.
"C-can't do what?" I ask nervously.
"Be away from you. Pretend that I don't love you anymore. I can't just ignore my feelings. No matter how hard I try, you always push everything else aside. You come to the front of my mind whether I want you there or not.
"I'm losing my mind without you. I'm not the same person without you. I need you..."
My breath hitches in my throat. He moves across the room and stands in front of me. He tilts my chin up with his fingers and a tear streaks down his face.
"But I have to know... Why? Why did you leave me?" He asks placing his warm palm on my cheek.
I'm not prepared to tell him the truth. Or what's happened to me over the last couple of months. I can't win...
"You're going to hate me after I say this..." I say and look back to the floor only for him to raise my chin again.
"Emily... You don't seem to understand that I could never hate you. No matter what happens. I will never hate you." He says sweetly with a smile.
I took in a deep breath and let it out as a sigh. I trust him. I trust him to keep his word. He might be angry or mad but he won't hate me. He just said it.
"When I went on the McDonalds run that day, Harry came with me because he didn't want me to go by myself. When we got there I had to go to the bathroom. These girls, when I walked passed them, they stared me down. Like I was some sort of alien. Which I completely agree with." I pause.
"Emily don't say-" I didn't let him finish his sentence before I interrupted him.
"Let me finish."
He nods silently and waits patiently for me to continue. I quickly move a strand of hair out of my face and look back up to him.
"When I got into the bathroom apparently they followed me because as soon as we were alone they confronted me... They told me that I was ugly, a bitch and that I didn't deserve you... They told me that you were too good for me. Of course they're right but I couldn't help but take it offensively... The one girl, I can't even remember her name anymore, she said that if I didn't break up with you that she would tell everyone my secret..." I trail off.
"That's what this is about?!" He shouted and I jumped at the intensity in his voice.
"She told me that you are only dating me because you pitied me! Is that true?! Did you only pretend to love me?!"
He stood there dumbfounded for a couple seconds. Pure shock present on his features. His eyebrows furrowed together as he began to speak.
"Why would I pretend?! I have no reason to! I didn't go out with you because I pitied you... I went out with you because I fell in love with you. None of that is true. Not a single word. So please just come to your senses and think for a moment please..." Liam said shaking my shoulders lightly.
"Liam, I-" I started but stopped mid sentence.
"You what?"
"I'm sorry..."
"For what?"
"For doubting you! For leaving you! It was the worst mistake of my life... For everything."
"It's ok Emily. It's ok."
He pulled me into his chest and we stayed there embraced for what seemed like forever. I missed his warm muscular arms. I missed the sound of his heart beat.
"I have one more question." He said softly, breaking the silence.
"What?" I ask and he pushes me slightly away from his chest so he can look into my eyes.
"Why did you kiss Harry?"
The question hung in the air and was met by silence. I didn't know exactly why I kissed him. It kind of just happened...
"I don't know." I said plainly.
Liam pushed me away and broke contact. He looked at me as if I were stupid and smacked his hands against his legs as they dropped down to his sides.
"What do you mean you don't know?!" Liam asks, the anger rising in his voice.
"I mean I don't know... Why is it such a big deal anyway?" I ask crossing my arms over my chest.
"Because it is! I still loved you and you went and kissed my best mate?!"
"It's not like we were dating at the time! So I don't know why you're so angry!"
"I'm angry because I thought you loved me! If you loved me then you wouldn't have kissed him!"
"I can kiss whoever I want to Liam! You don't own me! You can't tell me what I can and can't do!"
I stomped out of the room and headed straight for the stairs. I'm so infuriated with him right now. I have to go. Tears streak down my cheeks as I run down the stairs.
"Emily?" Harry says with a questioning tone.
As I reach the middle of steps I slip on something and my feet are thrown out from under me. I crash into the steps and roll down the remaining stairs. There's a stabbing pain in my head.
"Emily?!" I heard someone say but I couldn't make out who it was.
I felt a warm liquid on the back of my head and my vision began to get blurry. The voices faded away as my eyelids slowly shut.
