CHAPTER 04

THIRD PERSON P.O.V

It was raining heavily. Little Jieun was inside her room playing with her dolls. Despite the rain her brother had already gone to school. But she wasn't alone.

In the next room was her father working hard on some of his office stuff.

Suddenly Jieun's father barged inside her small room and crashed her tea party with the dolls.

"We need to go."

Saying in a hurry he picked her up from the floor.

"But why?"

The little girl asked him with a big pout.

"The house is getting flooded. We need to leave for safety honey."

Taking a small bag filled with some essentials, her dad walked out of the house carrying Jieun in one hand and the bag in the other hand.

"Oh! Omma!"

"Hmm?"

"Omma! I left her photo inside. I want that."

Requesting for the photograph she left behind, Jieun struggled to break free from her dad's arms.

"Hey, hey, hey!"

Trying to calm her down, he slowly kept her on the muddy ground.

"I'll give you another photo. But right now we need to leave."

"No! I want THAT photo! Without that I'm not going anywhere."

"But Jieun-ah~"

"I want that photo!!"

Being a stubborn girl she tried to go past her dad and enter the water filled house.

"Hey! Stop right there."

He was quick enough to stop Jieun from going back to the house.

"But Appa~"

"Wait right here. I'll go and get it."

Hearing the latter of his statement she beamed in delight. Handing her the bag he hurried towards the house under the heavy rain.

15 seconds passed, 30 seconds passed, it gradually became 1 minute but he was still inside the house.

With a matter of few more minutes he showed up in front of a window and waved a photograph at Jieun. Seeing that her dad was holding her most precious gift, she clapped in joy. With a smile on his face he moved away from the window.

There was a bright lightning followed by a loud thunder. Little Jieun was so scared that she screamed from the top of her lungs with her eyes and ears closed tight. When the rumble died slowly she opened her eyes and...

KABOOM!!!

Suddenly the house was coated in fire. Massive red and orange flames started to engulf the entire house. A low voice of a man screaming was heard inside the house.

"Appa?"

The girl questioned in a low voice which was not audible at all.

Before her eyes, her house started to turn into ash.

"Appa?! Appa! Appa!!"

This time she shouted with all her might but she heard no reply.

Knowing nothing to do she kept on calling for her dad through tears.
