"So what's up?" Awsten asked as soon as I accepted his FaceTime.
"Nothing's up, I'm just tired," I lied, rubbing my forehead.
"You're usually a much better liar. What's going on, Alex?"
"My, uh- My dad showed up here yesterday. At a Starbucks."
"Did he talk to you?"
"Yeah."
"Was he an asshole?"
"Yeah."
"What'd he say?"
"He just was trying to talk to me as I was trying to leave, he deadnamed me and wouldn't let me past him. Reminded me how much I really didn't miss him."
"I'm really sorry love, I wish I could help, but I'm not gonna be there til tomorrow."
"It's okay, just talking to you makes it better. What time are you getting here tomorrow?" I smiled at my boyfriend.
"It should be around 6pm, I think, and then I'll get a cab to-"
"Nope, no need for a cab, I'm driving you back."
"Alex, you really don't have to,"
"Are you kidding? I get a legitimate excuse to not study for once, and I get see my boyfriend that lives, like, 15 hours away? Of course I'm picking you up. You don't get a say in this."
Awsten was quiet for a moment, just looking at the camera. "I miss you." He said quietly.
"I miss you too, Awssie,"
"No, you ruined it. I hate being called Awssie." I laughed.
"Sorry," I thought for a minute. "I miss you too, sweet heart."
"Oh my god, that's even worse. No."
"What about babycakes?"
"Please, god. No. Stop." He begged, making me giggle.
"Fine. I miss you too, Awsten."
"Good, because you're stuck with me this weekend no matter what." He joked.
"There's nobody else I'd rather be stuck with," I grinned. "But sadly I have to go finish my homework."
"Aww, can't it wait?"
"It was due yesterday, Awsten. And I have only two questions done out of 30. Sorry,"
"What's it about?"
"The class is 'Music in the Rock Era'." I explained. "Basically it's like the history of rock music, how it originated, and the fusion of African American and European American art styles. It's pretty interesting."
"I'm a rock star, I can help!"
"Well, Awsten, I'm a rock star too. I can do it myself." I said. Awsten pouted, like a sad little puppy. "Sorry, babe, but I really have to focus. I'm sorry,"
"It's okay, I'll see you tomorrow, then?"
"Yeah. I love you,"
"Love you too," He smiled into the camera before ending the call. I sighed, putting my phone away and taking out my notes and laptop.
*time skip because homework is boring*
By the end of my study session, I had realized that sweatpants and an oversized t-shirt were not getting along with my dysphoria, so I changed into my binder and a button down that I tucked into my black skinny jeans. I also wore Doc Martens and I cuffed my jeans because, y'know, I'm gay. Out of my room I finally went, announcing to Jack and my cat the I was leaving to pick up Awsten.
"Don't die." Jack said, sitting on the couch, watching Star Wars: The Clone Wars.
"No promises!" I called, walking out the door and heading down to Nixie's car.
The ride to the airport always takes longer than expected, so Awsten already had everything ready to go.
It really was a movie moment, running into each other's arms the way we did. I really, really missed him. Considering the way he brought me into a kiss, I'd say he missed me too.
"Aws," I grinned. He hugged me tightly, like he was scared to let go.
"I hate planes," He whispered, and tensed.
"It's okay, love, I'm here now. You're okay," I tried to soothe him. "I'm here now." Awsten slowly relaxed and finally looked up at me, smiling.
"I missed you so fucking much, Alex," He kissed me again.
"I missed you too," I beamed, taking his suitcase from him. "Let's go home."
I have face claims now and a playlist so that's cool I guess
