My feet ached, silently screaming for a bit of a rest. It felt like nails being stabbed in the heels of my feet. The whole planet couldn't seem to have enough air to fill my lungs, despite the cold wind that kept teasing my face as I ran in the opposite direction, breathing was a struggle.
Tears left cold stains behind, invisibly sticking to the skin of my cheeks. I could hear my breaths echoing through my ears, pretty loudly as I forced myself to go further than I was capable of in aims of survival. Open, empty space sat ahead of me, nowhere to hide from the beast. For a moment, instead of keeping my eyes focused on where my feet would settle, I turned to look back, scanning the area behind me with hopes built high that he wasn't chasing after me anymore. He was nowhere where I could see him, but I knew he was still lurking around as well as I knew that stopping would be a suicide attempt.
I was already in so much pain, my bones were already too fragile, yet I pushed myself to keep going for I had no other choice. I could taste the blood on the tip of my lip, and I could feel pain spreading through my body like poison. Bruises scattered here and there over my skin like a violet pattern on a cloth, but with all of that, I wasn't complaining.
I only saw the beast in him, he only gave me his darkness, constantly telling me that there was no point in trying to show the light in him, for there was no light to start with. I kept telling myself that one day, he will come back to his senses, but he never did. I kept taking more and more of his physical anger for I thought it would change one day. But it remained the same. I convinced myself that I had to take the demon in him to get to the angel, but all I ever got was the demon because I fooled my own self with the thought of an angel living in him. I thought it was love, maybe because I was too desperate to be loved.
Something caught me by my feet, holding them so tightly until I helplessly landed on the ground. I panicked, I could feel him standing right before me, staring down at me, I could feel his eager gaze burning through me, I could feel him tearing me to shreds. Even though he wasn't anywhere in sight, I could still sense him roaming around.
I had that urge to stand up on my feet again, and I did. All of a sudden, the whole world was spinning like a DJ, felt like I could feel the planet as it spins. I had a hard time regaining my balance, swinging to the right and left as I tried to hold myself up. Every little bit of me felt heavy like a load of concrete, and everything in me felt numb as if there was nothing to be felt anywhere in my surroundings. Flashes of dark and bright overwhelmed my eyes, like glimpses of light in a place that could hold no light within. My eyes were drowning in pain, and so was my head, until I collapsed on the ground once more like it was an unavoidable destination.
*******
I could ask myself where did the daylight come from, but I didn't bother, it felt safer now. It seemed like I just fell from the sky, pain was swallowing me whole, and I couldn't remember anything, I couldn't tell how I ended up here or like that and I couldn't tell what I was supposed to do next. My mind was so blank without a single thought roaming freely around it.
In the distance, I could see the outline of a figure, a rather feminine one. All I was able to see was the back of the figure. The figure was gazing at something in the further distance, giving that something their whole attention without giving a shit about me lying dead behind them.
I couldn't care less about the dirt that clung to the palms of my hands as I attempted stand up straight. My feet held me up, surprisingly with no struggles. My hand wasn't helping much in preventing the sunlight from breaking through my eyes, the sunlight blinded me nonetheless. Squinting, I tried to figure out who that person was, within the folds of my mind the figure looked familiar, but no matter how hard I tried to arouse a memory of that person, I ended up with nothing.
It was all dressed in black, with hair cut short, sparkling like liquid gold in the bright sunshine. Skin with color of pure cream, looked soft even in the distance. Hands buried in the back pocket of a black pair of jeans as the figure stood studying the distance.
"Hey! Hey there!" I exclaimed at the top of my lungs while making my way to the figure with large steps. My words went unheard, and silence was the response I received back.
"Hey, who are you?" I yelled once more, a bit lower this time as I drew myself closer. Most of the distance had died out, yet my voice had blended in the air, and once again, there was no answer to my question.
"I'm talking to you! Who are you?" I repeated myself, hopes built high that I would get an answer this time. The person seemed to pay attention for once, they finally turned to face me. But before I could set an eye on their face, it all went to the whiteness of nowhere, everything faded away within a split second, and disappeared for good.
