Chapter Eight

"A B+," I smiled.
Thursday rolled around and I was in an unnaturally happy mood. I woke up without my alarm, my father wasn't home when Charlie and I left, and I got a B+ on my Spanish quiz.
"Carter that's great!" Lily smiled.
It was lunch and I was sitting with Astrid, Damien, River, Jasmine--- the squad, and of course Lily. Minus Rym who was still sick. Lily was eating homemade fudge her cook apparently 'whipped up'. Astrid couldn't stop drooling over it.
"Please. Just one piece!" she begged.
Lily sighed and smiled, handing Astrid a small piece of peanut butter fudge.
"I literally love you," Astrid said, moaning over the dessert.
"I love me too," Lily said, closing her lunch bag.
"Is everyone going to the party tomorrow?" Jasmine changed the subject. "Astrid and Lily said yes, boys?"
"You know it," River smiled.
"Nah, I've got a soccer game," Damien shrugged.
"You didn't tell me you played soccer," Lily said, with a hint of excitement in her voice. "I used to play with my cousin."
"Really?" Damien put down his sandwich. "Finally. Carter's a basketball person, River just... well he's just in bad shape."
"Hey!" said River.
"What about me!" Jasmine jumped in. "I like soccer."
"Jazzy, last time you played you kicked the ball right at Mr. Teller's face," Damien chuckled at the memory.
"Yeah..." Jasmine mumbled.
"I'm more of a volleyball girl," Astrid piped up. "I've got to get all of this energy out somehow."
Lily giggled.
"Damien you can just come after, it doesn't start until ten," Jasmine stated.
Damien rolled his eyes and continued eating his sandwich. "Fine."
Jasmine smiled and picked up her lunch tray. "Awesome! River, you and I have History."
River groaned. "I'm just gonna skip."
Jasmine shook her head and grabbed River's hand. "You're getting behind, now let's go."
Lily smiled at the two and River reluctantly followed Jasmine to his class.
"Who has Algebra?" Astrid asked hopefully. "Anyone?"
"Lily and I have physics," I said casually.
Lily smiled apologetically. "Sorry Astrid, Damien?"
Damien shook his head. "Calculus."
Astrid huffed in annoyance and packed up her lunch. "I hate school."
Lily laughed as my over dramatic friend stomped off to class.
"Ciao guys," Damien sighed.
Lily waved as she put away her lunch, stuffing her banana in her backpack.
