Chapter Ten

C A R T E R
I saw Violet on the other side of the Dug Out. She looked stern as she jogged up to the ring. Her expression was fixated on Peligro. Peligro, who towered over Violet's smaller self, looked amused. He even fake yawned to get the crowd's attention. Violet chuckled and rolled her eyes at his childish demeanor.
I sped to the side of the ring where I had a good view of the fight. Violet stretched as Murray announced the two. Peligro still had his cocky face on, he didn't even stretch.
She had taken Large down, she'll take this clown down too.
"Fight!"
They circled each other. Peligro was definitely getting cocky. He swung at Violet and missed. Violet smirked, her eyes focused on the way he was standing. Peligro was taken aback by this but shook it off. He tried lunging but Violet saw it coming and jumped out of the way, kicking the massive fighter down with all her might. He slammed against the bottom of the ring.
He seemed a little dazed but got on his feet, fuming. Peligro was focused on Violet, Violet was focused on him. They circled each other, building up anticipation. Peligro furiously swung but Violet dodged every one. His frustration and pride was getting the best of Peligro, and Violet knew it.
Violet lunged at Peligro, knocking him to his feet, she hooked her legs around his neck and squeezed. Her hands were busy making sure she could stay on top of him. Peligro was fighting but the lack of air and focus kept him down. The crowd was chanting 'Violet'. I saw Large with the boss on the other side of the ring looking shocked, and the boss looking impressed.
You ain't seen nothing yet.
Peligro was down, but Violet wasn't done. She released the enraged fighter from her grip and straddled him, punching him repeatedly until his nose bled. Soon enough, Violet jumped off of him and the ref counted to three.
She made it to the finals.
Holy crap.
I was conflicted. If I made it to the finals...
I didn't want to think about it.
Violet was declared the winner and she jogged off of the ring with a smile on her face. I saw her glance at the clock and bolt to a back room.
I wanted to know who she was, and why she felt familiar to me.
She was tough, and made me feel different...
Jheeze Carter stop it. She's competition. I need this for myself and Charlie.
I forced any thoughts about Violet out of my head and focused on my next fight. It was seven forty-seven and Large and I fought at eight. I made my way towards the training room where I made sure my mask was secure and my hands were wrapped tight.
My whole body stiffened at the sound of the door closing behind me.
"Blade, a pleasure it is to see you again."
Boss.
"I guess so," I replied, my back still turned to face him.
"Face me son."
