Chapter Thirty-Five

L I L Y
Hot tears streamed down my face as Carter drifted into an unconscious slumber. I applied pressure to his wound and Hunter called the police.
It was too. Freaking. MUCH! I couldn't breath, my breathing was uneven and heavy, but my mind wasn't focused on everything else, it was on Carter.
And my father.
I whipped my head around and stared directly in his eyes. His absolutely shocked face satisfied me a great deal.
"Lily?!" he chocked. "What-you're-"
"Shut up," I growled. "You just tried to kill me father! MY OWN FATHER!" I slapped him in the face. "What is wrong with you?!"
Pretty soon I heard sirens from below, policeman were scattered around the building and some were coming in. I immediately knocked the gun out of my father's hands and punched him square in the face. He stumbled to the ground as the cops and paramedics poured in.
They rushed to Carter's aid and the police, seeing the gun next to him came at my father and cuffed him.
"Holy..." one of the officers breathed. "This is Greg Easton."
"Get him out of here," I snapped. "He shot my.. friend."
"Not only that," the same officer said sternly while other officers told my dad his rights. "We've been suspicious of him for years, this is the icing on the cake. There's a high chance that he's the leader of an extremely dangerous gang called 'The Vendettas'."
A 'high' chance. It's an 100% percent chance, but needed to choose my words carefully. "Where's he going?"
"Most likely to a high security prison, he's been doing a lot of illegal stuff here under our noses. We just got proof a few days ago but he ran away to somewhere in Florida I think."
I nodded. I couldn't believe anything, but I had to. It was the only thing that made sense, and didn't make sense at the same time. The information squeezed my mind harder every second.
Eventually I found myself convincing the paramedics to the let me ride along with Carter in the ambulance, no such luck.
I was shaking. Hunter and I were alone in New York at one in the morning at the police station waiting for my mother. We filled in the police on what happened, I got off easy since technically I was kidnapped and forced into it. Hunter luckily did also with a little help from my mom.
I felt horrible for my mother. An officer filled her in on everything that was happening, I saw she trying to choke back tears. I stood up from my waiting chair as she approached.
"Mom?" I said softly. "Mom I'm so sorry, I wanted to tell you but-"
I was cut off by her warm embrace, I squeezed her tightly. I needed a hug right now. She wiped a tear from her eye as we pulled away.
