"Hey guys," Jasmine lifted her head slowly.

"Jazzy!" Astrid squealed, running and throwing her arms around her best friends. "What'd it feel like? Did it feel like a punch? Or did it hurt more?"

"What are you talking about?"

"The shot duh."

"Oh um... I don't know. I don't remember much."

Astrid deflated a bit but smiled anyway, "It's okay. I'm just glad you're okay." She hugged Jasmine again.

"Thank you so much Jaz," Rym said softly as the rest of us gathered around Jaz's hospital bed. "I don't know how to repay you."

"You don't have to, you're my best friend too now." Jasmine smiled weakly. "Now tell me what's been going on? My life in this dump has consisted of eating, sleeping and catching up on homework."

"Nothing much..." I chuckled nervously.

"I heard River came to visit you," Vanessa commented, taking a seat in a chair.

I felt Meteor tense next to me, Jasmine still looked uncomfortable around him. It was mostly around Blade but whoever wore a mask I guess...

Jasmine's cheeks turned a bright shade of red as she snuggled deeper in her blankets. "Yeah um... he may or may not have told me he liked me..."

Astrid let out a shriek. "What?! When?!"

Meteor coughed uncomfortably and muttered something like 'I'll be outside'.

"He was here when I woke up, he hugged me and you know... we got to talking, he said when he got the call that I got shot he was really scared."

"We all were," Rym chuckled.

"He said the thought of me dying was the scariest thing he could imagine."

Rym's eyebrows went up and nodded, "Okay, yeah okay he's got us beat."

Jasmine smirked and nodded.

"Well what'd you tell him?" Astrid pressed.

"I told him I liked him too... I mean I do."

"What now?"

Jaz shrugged, "He's been visiting me every day apparently, he's getting us tacos now."

"Ah," Vanessa smiled.

"We're all really happy for you," Rym beamed. "At least one good thing came out of this."

Jasmine smirked and looked at her hands. "Yeah you're right. Plus it's kind of cool being able to say that I got shot."

Vanessa sat up in her chair and crossed her legs Indian style. "Look at you seeing the bright side of things, you're way braver than I am that's for sure."

Jasmine flushed, "I wouldn't say brave... my dad was in the military so I probably get it from him."

We continued to chat and laugh for a few more hours. River arrived with the tacos but he didn't have enough for everyone so we decided to give him and Jaz some privacy. Astrid kept talking about Jasmine and River and how cute they were together on the way out. Meteor walked fast and started the suburban.
