Chapter Thirty-Eight

Electricity, that's the only way I can explain it. Some kind of passion that was foreign to me, and by the look on Lily's face, it was foreign to her too.
I pulled away as the song ended, Lily paused for a moment before jumping off of my feet and bolting.
I was left in the middle of the dance floor while Vanessa ran up to me.
"Where's she going?" Vanessa asked breathlessly.
"I don't know," I said, still slightly bemused.
"Well go after her you idiot! We don't have all night!"
I snapped out it and nodded, running into the direction that Lily went. I looked around the hallway until it led me to a door. Outside was what looked like a courtyard, it was pretty impressive. Rose bushes surrounded a patio with benches and a water fountain. There was Lily sitting on the edge of the fountain.
She was beautiful. The dress, her hair, the makeup she didn't actually need. I jogged over to her and sat next to her.
"Sorry," she said after a brief silence. "I don't know why I did that... I've just never kissed anyone before."
I smirked and shook my head. "Could have fooled me."
Lily smacked my shoulder, holding back a grin. "Have a little class Landon, I probably sucked."
"I don't know how someone manages to 'suck' at kissing."
"This is a weird conversation."
"Yeah, it is."
Another brief silence.
Oh my gosh, just tell her. What is the matter with you?
Shut up I'm getting there.
"So," I said hesitantly. "I'm just going to say what everyone already knows. I like you Lily Easton. I like everything about you, and I don't care if you don't feel the same because at least I'd have told you. I just-"
She kissed me again, shutting me up.
Finally. My work here is done.
She pulled away, blushing. "I like you too Carter."
I stared into her deep, violet eyes. Lost in the color. "Will you be my girlfriend?"
Lily pretended to think. "Will you make me nutella sandwiches whenever I ask for one?"
"Only if I get one too."
"Deal," she laughed.
I leaned in again before-
"YES!!!"
Astrid.
"FINALLY! I'M SO HAPPY! JASMINE GET IN HERE, YOU TOO VEE! IT TRULY IS A CHRISTMAS MIRACLE-"
Jasmine clasped her hand over Astrid's big mouth. "Azzy, hush."
"Bffmmm!" Astrid whined, pulling her mouth away. "Well I'm sorry. I've been waiting forever. Now we all have boyfriends!"
What are we objects?
Wait a second.
"What do you mean 'we ALL have boyfriends'?" Lily asked, standing up.
