It's funny how two complete strangers unconsciously decide to cross paths with each other on a totally random day, and later think to themselves, "What were the odds?" Well, you see, they themselves are the odds. Every single action they have ever taken in their life, every jab of pain and pleasure, all leads up to that single moment. After a while (it could be a year or ten) something clicks, and you think for a moment, "Oh my god, I don't want to be with anyone else."
Knowing this, how far are you willing to go for that person?

Breathe, Eren, The young man adjusted his tie, trying to calm the knots in his stomach.
Initially he had been excited about this job offer, after all, it was a very big company, and his friends at university would have killed to be in his position. He had been one of the top students there, so it wasn't much of a surprise when he was flooded with offers on his last day.
His best friend Armin at the same time had been offered to work at one of the biggest universities of the country as a physics professor. The reason for this sudden high position offer had been, of course, due to his high IQ.
It was time to start over. He felt free for the first time in a long time.
"Eren Jäger." A redheaded woman in an office suit called out. He managed to stand up with grace and walked over to the glass door. Wow, this place is really clean, he thought. He turned the doorknob, clutched his resume and strode in.
The room was stark white and had huge windows with a brilliant view. Three people sat behind a long desk in the centre, looking like they hadn't smiled in the last thirty years. Eren tried to smile confidently.
"Good evening." his voice broke a little while finishing the greeting and he felt himself warm up with acute embarrassment.
Okay, it's okay, they didn't notice, he tried to calm himself as he sat in the only vacant chair and looked at the interviewers. On his left sat an old guy with a white moustache and beard. He adjusted his glasses and ruffled through some papers, glancing up at the candidate in front from time to time. On the right sat an Asian woman with black hair arranged into a neat bun.
Then his eyes caught the man in the centre.
He had raven black hair styled in an undercut, and steely grey eyes. His face was cold, impassive, without emotion. He regarded Eren with an intensity that he had never seen, making him feel weird in his presence. If he dared, he could even call him alluring. The woman cleared her throat. "Good evening, young man. Your resume, please."
"Oh, sure." He handed it to her and she leafed through it for a few moments, then nodded in satisfaction. "Ah, yes. Eren Jäeger. One of the top graduates. Resume is more than satisfactory. So this will be less of an interview and more of a formality. Allow me to introduce us. I am Kiyomi Azumabito, the finance director here. This," she gestured to her right "is Levi Ackerman, the CEO. You will be working close to him from now on."The knots in Eren's stomach involuntarily tightened. The man named Levi did not change that unusually stoic expression.
"I am Darius Zackley, chief financial officer." The old man said and gave him a curt nod. "As you will soon know, joining this company, you won't be living in comfort. You want an easy life, look elsewhere. But you look like you have potential, so we wish you all the best."
"Thank you very much sir," Eren bowed his head sincerely."Let's start with the interrogation already." Mr.Ackerman's deep voice suddenly cut through the air, which made him jump again. His nerves screamed in agony. Eren bleakly wondered what was wrong with him as he nodded.
Forty minutes later, he closed the door of the interview room and leaned against the hall, sighing in exhaustion. Being constantly bombarded by questions and judged for every word that came out of your mouth was definitely draining. He couldn't believe he had made it out of that place in one piece.
The redhead from earlier thanked him for coming, her amber eyes scrutinizing him thoroughly.
The drive back to his apartment was long and spent in deep thought. He mulled over the answers he had given, his mind constantly going back to that one person. He had a really intimidating aura around him. Definitely a no-nonsense guy. Probably had a strict childhood.
Whatever, I'm not hear for him. He tried to tell himself.
He could finally be independent. Do what he wanted...to an extent, of course.
Only work mattered now.
