Eren
It was Monday, and the most brilliant thing happened.
The computers shut down.
"Ohhh, praise the lord!!" Sasha leaned back in her chair and stretched her arms over her head. She smiled widely at all of our equally happy faces. "My prayers have been answered!"
"Our prayers." Conny nudged her and she nudged him back, identical grins plastered onto their faces.
"Guys, what do you wanna do now?" Thomas stood up and looked at the haywire situation around us. "We aren't gonna deal with this shit for sure, so let's grab some snacks or something. What do you say?"
"Snacks!" Sasha leapt up, her eyes shining in excitement.
"Sit down, you glutton!" Connie lightly punched her. She smacked him on the arm.
"Jeez, you two. Always fighting like a bunch of siblings.'" Bertholdt tutted. Connie scowled at him.
Marco was unusually quiet. He was always the sweet, shy type who didn't say much, but right now he looked downright depressed. I thought of asking him about it, but decided against it as it might not be my business.
"Oh, sir! Hi!" I looked up to see Levi walking past us, looking highly irritated. Sasha had her hand raised in a wave. He ignored her.
"You brats are loving this, aren't you?" He surveyed each of us in turn, his eyes resting on mine for a split second longer.
"Aw, come on!" Mina grinned crookedly. "It's fun this way!"
"Maybe for you." He muttered and walked off at a brisk pace.
"He's the one who has to deal with this shit." I said to Thomas.
"You guys...I'm bored..." Jean's head drooped down on his desk in sleep. "Do something, people..."
Right then Oluo and Petra went by us in a hurry, giggling and holding each other's hand. Their rings shined brightly.
"Ah, love." Mina sighed and watched them dreamily as she rested her cheek on her hand. "So cute."
"Hey, I know!" Sasha stood up dramatically. "How about a game of Truth or Dare?"
"Oh my god, do we look like kids?" Jean facepalmed.
"You got any better ideas, horsy?" She put her hands on her hips.
"I like it." I piped up. "Let's do it. Come on, you lazy-ass oldies."
One by one, everyone voiced their agreement, even Marco, but he merely nodded. Then only Jean was left. By now he had no choice but to go along with us.
"Let's go to the break room, y'all. We don't wanna be heard here. Plus, they have snacks." Sasha licked her lips. There was no one inside the small room, much to our relief. We sat down in a circle and put a pen in our midst. I whirled it around and it spun, slowing to a stop. Its end pointed to...
Thomas.
"Thomas, truth or dare!" Connie shouted.
"Dare!" He roared, making us jump.
"Kiss the best-looking person in the room!" Jean snorted in laughter.
"Hey, come on... That's not fair... " He rubbed the back of his neck.
"It's okay, it's just a dare, man!" Mina waved her hand nonchalantly. "We won't take you seriously."
"Okay, so...on the lips?"
"No, the cheek. Because we're fucking twelve." Bertholdt rolled his eyes.
Thomas gulped, then slowly inched forward towards a particular person. We gasped in delight as he quickly bent down and pecked Mina on the lips.
Sasha and Connie erupted in whoops as Thomas glared at them. "You said you wouldn't take this seriously!"
"Yes. Yes we did." Mina muttered, flushing.
"Alright, next!"
I spun it again, and it landed on me.
"Eren, truth or dare!" Sasha shrieked.
"Dare!" I declared, because no way would I reveal my affair with the ceo.
"Hey, what's this commotion about?" My boyfriend's steely voice made everyone freeze. He was standing in the doorway, arms crossed across his chest.
"J-just playing, sir." Connie squeaked.
"Oh?" He walked towards us, and I tried to hide my blush at the sound of his deep voice. "What game?"
"Truth or dare." Connie's voice was several octaves higher. Sasha looked at him worriedly.
"Join us." I said and everyone stared at me in horror.
"No, keep going. I'll watch." He grabbed a chair and sat down just outside of our little circle.
"Um, okay....Eren? You chose dare, right?" Connie smiled nervously. I could feel Levi's gaze on me, making the knots in my stomach tighter. "Okay then...hug the best looking person in the room." My man was keeping it simple out of fear. I couldn't blame him.
Right away I knew I wasn't going to go to my sexy raven, so with a heavy heart I got up and went over to the next best person, even if I didn't really believe anyone could compare to him.
As I passed him, I thought I would burst into flames with the heat behind his stare. He hadn't expected me to ignore him like that.
I walked over to the one I'd settled on.
Mina. We had a good friendship, she was smart and sweet, and I knew she didn't like me that way.
She held her arms out, smiling knowingly, and we hugged. I could smell a girl's perfume on. Without realising that I was comparing, I thought of it as stale in front of Levi's heavenly scent.
A few people gave out 'oohs' behind me. "Mina's getting a lot of attention today, huh?" Sasha giggled.
I pulled away, both of us not at all red, as she was like a sister to me. However, my back felt scorching hot and I felt like Levi's penetrating look would burn me to death.
I started to go back to my seat on the floor.
Then stopped.
Levi was the best-looking person in the room. No, the whole world.
No way was I gonna lie like this.
I silently stepped towards his surprised face and engulfed him in an embrace. He stiffened up under me, and I pulled away to looking into those majestic grey eyes.
"Eren.... " He breathed.
"Eren?" Someone said, but I didn't understand who.
I snapped back to reality.
"Sorry!" I hurried to my vacant space and plopped down, feeling everyone's confused gaze over me. I was burning up and couldn't bear to look at Levi.
"Okay then. Uh, let's spin the pen, please."
Levi got up after a while and left silently while we asked each other simple questions like, "Hey, who do you think is the cutest banker here?" or "I dare you to arm wrestle with someone of the opposite sex."
Finally it landed on Sasha. "Truth!" She yelled happily, chewing on her potato fries.
"Who's your crush?" Connie blurted out.
To everyone's immense shock, Sasha blushed deeply. "Uh...not a crush, but like...uhm, a boyfriend-friend?"
"Who?" Mina leaped forwards.
"His name is Niccolo." She covered her face bashfully. It was so weird to see her like this. We'd always assumed that she was in a serious commitment with food, but...
"How did you two meet?" Mina asked in a high-pitched voice.
"Hey, that wasn't in the dare!" She protested, but everyone forced her to spill the good stuff. Finally she relented.
"He cooked a special meal at my apartment for a party, and we got kind of interested in each other. And then I tasted his cooking, and it was so good it gave a foodgasm, I kid you not. And then we just started dating, and...Eren, why do you have that face?"
I was feeling horrible. Horrible for Connie, who looked like his life had broken down around him. He was trying to look interested, but he was a terrible actor.
"Eren?" Sasha prompted. Everyone looked at me.
"Connie likes you." The words shot out of my mouth before I could think. The fuck, Eren?
"What?" Sasha gasped.
"What?" Connie looked at me, the betrayal clear on his face.
"What?!" The rest of them said.
"I'm sorry!" I put my hands up. Why did I have to go and do that?
"Connie?" Sasha looked at her best friend wide-eyed, her voice shaking.
"It's true, Sasha...I'm sorry, but....I'm in love with you." He closed his eyes, clenching his fists.
"Oh, Connie..." Sasha took his hand and he bit his lip, mortified.
"Yeah, and Thomas is in love with Mina." Jean shook his head.
"What??" Mina snapped her head towards Thomas. He made a strangled sound and blurted out, "Marco is in love with Jean!"
"Huh??!" This time I had no idea who was speaking. Maybe I'd said it too. I couldn't believe my ears right then.
"Hey!!" Marco glared at Thomas, tears swimming in his eyes. "Shut the fuck up!!"
We all gasped. Marco never swore.
"Thomas, shut up!" Sasha scowled at him. "And don't tell them that Jean and Mina were kissing a few days ago."
"What?!!" Marco's head whiiped around to Jean, his eyes the size of dinner plates.
I didn't know whether to laugh or be sad for Thomas. "Mina, really?" I shook my head in disapproval.
'That horseface? Seriously?' I asked her through my eyes. She was as red as a tomato.
"What the hell is going on?!!" Bertholdt screamed.
"Hey, Bertholdt! Looks like just me and you now!" I called out, my insides aching from holding in laughter. Mina heard us and gave me a maniacal look. She staggered to her feet, a wild look in her eyes, and screeched, "EREN AND MR.ACKERMAN ARE FUCKING!!!"
