Eren clinked his glass with Levi's. The champagne inside danced, tuning in with the atmosphere of the dimly-lit, fancy restaurant they had come to. Soft violin played in the distance and people quietly talked around them.
Here, no one would disturb them.Except for the client they had agreed to meet with.
"He's been in the bathroom for quite a while now," Eren commented, taking a small sip of his champagne.
Levi made a 'tch' sound, his irritation clearly visible on his face. He hated people like their client.
"Probably constipated as hell, or taking a massive shit. Either way, he is one of the reasons why I hate people."
Eren wasn't surprised for some reason. He knew Levi's nature well enough after spending some weeks with him. But he wanted to know why.
Eren hesitantly leaned forward "May I ask about the reason, sir?"
Levi raised an eyebrow at his forwardness. He looked even more gorgeous than usual in his beige button up, deep blue suit and tie. Eren silently thanked the dim lights that hid his faint blush.
Levi started to say something, but then his eyes flitted to someone behind Eren and he closed his mouth.
Their client. He waddled over rubbing his obvious potbelly, a satisfied expression on his face. He then sat down heavily on the empty chair at their table.
"Forgive me, Mr.Ackerman. That crab really got to me. Seems like I'm more than just a tough guy to break, eh?" he winked at Levi like an asshole.
"No problem, Mr.Sanders. I'm sure there will be some deals between us which will make your business in the restroom fast and smooth."Bruce Sanders. A notorious man who cheated with money in extremely subtle ways, but at the same time was a doofus. Eren stared in fascination at the guy, with his brown beard and mad eyes. His lips curled into a tight smile at Levi's remark, but Eren knew he was glowering inside. He himself could not believe that his serious, no-nonsense boss could say something like that.
"Your humour, as usual, is impeccable, Mr.Ackerman. When did yoy start saying clever things?"
"Oh no, sir, I have always been like this. Some people just tend to be a bit slow around me. But let's get down to business, shall we?"After an hour, Sanders got up again to go to the bathroom. They had come nowhere with all the debate, and so Eren dreaded seeing the man's face again. He was getting sick of the negotiations and double-talk, which was normal for a someone new like him, but he still felt like going into the bathroom and locking him from outside. He remebered Sanders's cruel words and how coolly Levi had dealt with him. Eren couldn't believe the intensity of the accusations against their client, which were all suppposed to be true.
"Jäeger." Levi's voice jarred him back to the present. The raven-haired man was looking at him sharply "Let's ditch him."
"What?" Eren spluttered. "Can we do that?"
Levi sighed and rubbed his temples. "I hate to admit it, but I'm a bit tired tonight. That and I'm not exactly in love with that Sanders, as you can see. Plus, he will come back and we'll just go round and round with the arguments again. It's useless talking to him." He looked up at the brunette "There's this bar around the corner...let's go there."As if on cue, Eren's heartbeat speeded up, more so from the excitement. They got up from their table.
"What about the bill for our drinks?"
Levi turned, "Oh, he'll pay for them. The least he can do with his money."
_________________________________________It was small. And had even less light than the restaurant, to Eren's delight. Marvin Gaye played on the speakers, and the bartender smiled knowingly at Levi. "Well hello there, Mr.CEO."
"Evening, Farlan. The usual for me. Eren?"
"Uh..." Eren was going to settle for something mild, but the atmosphere of the bar was really getting to him. His skin felt hot and his mind woozy, maybe because of the drinks from earlier. So he settled for some tequila shots.Levi stared at his foaming beer, his eyebrows slightly furrowed together. Eren noticed the big gulps he was taking. His eyes constantly went over to his throat, the bob of his apple as he swallowed.
"I know it's not my place, but...something wrong, sir?"
"Jaeger, do me a favour and stop calling me sir." Levi slammed his beer down a little too hard on the table. He was truly scowling now and even looked a little red. Eren himself wasn't feeling very right in the mind. He was starting to feel fidgety and was getting way too mushy-gushy towards Levi.
"Well then, what should I call you?" The alcohol made him grin confidently.
"Don't get ahead of yourself. You can call me hmmp!" He bent over and coughed, whipping out a handkerchief and covering his mouth with it.
"Are you okay?" Eren bent down to look at him and thought about touching him, but then decided against it.
"Yeah, I was just lost in my thoughts. Don't worry, I'm not drunk yet." He raked a hand through his hair, messing it up a bit. Seeing that, Eren felt himself getting a bit turned on.It's the alcohol talking, the small, logical part of his brain assured him.
"So...anything happen today?" Eren asked again, hoping to get something out of the guy.
"Just someone from the past, wanting a favour all of a sudden. I said no."
"And you're regretting it?"
"I'm not." Levi said through gritted teeth.
"Oh, okay." Eren smiled at him.
They said nothing for a few more minutes, but just kept drinking more and more. However, Levi could handle his drink very well, much better than Eren, who kept chuckling at every little thing he saw. Levi silently admired the way he looked when he smiled, as drunk as he was.
"Jäeger, shut the hell up. You should just go home now."
Eren abruptly stopped laughing and turned to look at Levi, who was a bit taken aback at the look in his eyes.
"Wow." Eren said.
"What?" Levi snapped, feeling a bit nervous.
"You're so goddamn attractive."There was a stunned silence. Levi could only look at him, his eyes slightly widening.
Is that what this brat really thinks of me?
He managed to get some words out and tried to sound unflustered. "So what, you want to get it on with your older boss?"
Eren smiled, the image of melancholy in his intoxicated state, and shook his head "Never. I'm drunk right now, so my words don't really matter."
There was just something about this Eren, who looked way more mature than his years, a deep red hue on his cheeks and his eyes with a brilliant shine to them. Suddenly Levi could feel the alcohol catching up to him too, but with enormous effort he pushed it down. That strength of his faltered the next moment when Eren suddenly leaned in, his lips a few inches from Levi's, pulled up in a suggestive smirk.
"Although..." Eren's voice was turning husky. Levi held his breath, staring at the mischievious look in Eren's eyes. "I wouldn't mind if Mr.CEO threw me onto his table instead of his paperwork."
Levi could feel his warm breath on his own lips, and his body shivered at the feel. He quietly gulped and put a hand on Eren's chest, praying that he wouldn't hear the maddening speed of Levi's heartbeat. He tried to form words, to do something to suppress the wild desire flowing through his body.
"Come on, enough of that. Go home."
Eren smiled again and stood up, only to fall back down immediately.
Damned brat, Levi thought as he helped him up. "This kind of conduct in front of your boss is highly inappropriate, you know that?" Neverthless, he swung Eren's arm around his own shoulder and helped him out.
Out in the cool night air, Eren took in a sharp breath. The sane part of him realised that the CEO of the most prestigious bank company in the nation was carrying him out of a bar at 11 pm. On a work night.
The rest of him thought, Who cares.
He pressed his mouth to Levi's ear, making the other man jump. The reaction made Eren feel fuzzy inside and he grinned against his ear. He whispered his address and felt Levi shiver from his breath. But the world was going crazy around him so he assumed it was his imagination.Levi called a taxi and unceremoniously threw Eren inside. As it started to pulled away, Eren called out "Thanks for today, Mr.Levi Ackerman!" and winked.
Levi watched the cab until it disappeared into the night, then silently cursed himself for acting so informally with an underclassman.
And you aren't exactly in your 20s anymore, either, he thought bitterly. He rubbed his temples, promising himself to never see Eren as more than an employee again.
