Jennie got in the car beside Soyeon and slammed the door shut. Soyeon looked at her client.

"Look," she said, "I know you're upset, but I'm trying to do what I think is best for you."

"I'm not seventeen anymore, Soyeon. I'm old enough to make my own decisions now," Jennie said.

"Sure, maybe in your day to day life you are, but this is the entertainment industry. You would not last a day if I let you make your own decisions.

Jennie scoffed. "Wow."

"I didn't mean it like—"

"I know how you meant it, Soyeon."

The two rode in silence for the rest of the time they were in the car. They arrived at Jungsik Seoul and Jennie quickly got out of the car, not bothering to say goodbye to her manager. She walked into the restaurant and Jackson immediately waved her over. She sat down and looked at him.

Jackson raised his eyebrow. "No smile?" he teased.

"I have nothing to smile about," Jennie said.

Jackson pouted. "Hey—"

"Jackson, I don't mean to be rude, but I'm not really in the best mood right now."

"I don't expect you to be," the boy gave her an understanding smile. "You were just outed in a homophobic country. I wouldn't have a gumdrops and rainbows attitude either if I were you."

Jennie sighed, looking down at the table. She ran her hand through her hair, then looked back up at Jackson. "Why exactly did you agree to this?"

Jackson chuckled. "I'm not here to try and take Rosé's place. That was never my intention. However, I do know that most of your friends are either really busy or in another country. I just thought you might want some company."

Jennie gave him a soft smile. "Thank you," she said. "I appreciate it."

"How about," Jackson stood from his seat, walking over to Jennie, "we get out of here?"

"And go where?" Jennie chuckled as she grabbed the hand he held out for her.

"It's a surprise."

Jennie looked at him. There was something awfully familiar about those three words. Jackson looked at her, making her look away with a small smile on her face.

She heard him laugh under his breath. He walked her to the passenger side of the car, opening and closing the door for her. He then got in the drivers seat, and they were off.

"Since we don't really know each other well, tell me about yourself," Jackson said.

Jennie looked at him. "Where should I start?"

"How did this all start?"

Jennie laughed. "My junior year of high school," she said. "It was truly a mess."

"And why's that?"

"Roseanne Park."

"What'd she do?" Jackson asked, looking at the idol.

Jennie smiled, the feeling of nostalgia taking over. She looked at Jackson and shrugged. "She made me fall in love with her."

"That doesn't seem too bad—"

"Well, she broke my heart after, but that's a different story."

"What? How?"

"She was driving me to the airport and before I got out, she told me she was playing me the entire time," Jennie said. "I later found out it was because she didn't want to lose a dare—typical high schooler. Either way, I was heartbroken and I seemed to fall into a slump that I couldn't get out of. I suppose it affected my mom too, because she ended up getting sick as well. Let's just say, my junior year did not have a happy ending."

Jackson let out a huge sigh. "I'm so sorry all of that happened to you," he said, "but how did you and Rosé end up back together?"

"She ended up being a trainee at YG, and things just escalated from there."

"And YG knew this whole time?"

Jennie looked at Jackson. "Of course not."

"He didn't freak out when he found out?"

"Oh, of course he did, but he already knew I was bisexual, so it wasn't that surprising."

"Wow." Jackson said. "Imagine if you would've never went to Australia."

"Somehow, I feel like things still would've ended up like this," Jennie looked out of the window.

The older man smiled at her. "You really—"

Jennie's phone rang. She saw the Caller ID and answered it.

"Soyeon," she said.

"Where are you?"

"Jackson's taking me somewhere."

"Where?"

"It's a surprise," Jennie said, a sly smile on her face.

"YG says that there are still headlines going around about you and Roseanne. He 'demands' that you and Jackson go somewhere and show...public affection."

Jennie was silent. Jackson was as well. He hated that Jennie was being put in this position. What he hated even more was that he couldn't do anything about it.

"Hello?"

Jennie released a sigh. "What did the headlines say?"

"Ex-Blackpink member, also known as Jennie Kim's girlfriend, caught in Incheon Airport. Said to be leaving for Australia."

Jennie leaned her head against the window. "Public affection?"

"Unfortunately, yes."

"Okay."

"Okay."

Soyeon cleared her throat.

"I'm sorry."

Jennie scoffed, rolling her eyes. "No, you're not," she hung up the phone.

Jackson glanced at her, placing his hand on top of hers. "We don't have to if you don't want to."

"You and I both know we have to," Jennie let out a bitter laugh. "What the CEO says, goes."
