"Daddy!" Alice called for her father.

Rosé finished setting up the table and sat down beside Jennie.

"Are you okay?" Jennie asked. "You've been seeming a little upset since—"

"Is that my beloved daughter, Alice?" Rosé's father said as he came down the stairs.

Rosé rolled her eyes, putting her face in her hand.

"Elbows off of the table, Roseanne," he scolded her.

The girl let out a huff, removing her arm from the table.

"Have a seat, Mason," Rosé's mother pulled a chair out for him.

"Thank you, Claire," he gave her a kiss. He then turned to Alice and smiled. "Alice, sweetheart, how've you been? I haven't seen you in a while."

Jennie noticed how Mason gave Alice his undivided attention when they were speaking. For some reason, though, he didn't do the same when it came to Rosé.

Jennie pouted a little, grabbing her girlfriend's hand and giving it a small squeeze.

"You work so hard, sweetheart," Mason shook his head. "It's so unfair that you have to do everything while Roseanne just sits at home."

"It's not like that—" Alice shook her head.

"She really hasn't done anything in life—"

"I'm sitting right here," Rosé said.

"I know," Mason said. "I'm saying it so you can hear it."

"Try saying it to me next time, then."

"Don't give me attitude, young lady—"

"Mason," Claire put her hand on her husband's shoulder. "That's enough."

"Dick," Rosé mumbled under her breath.

"I heard that," Mason glared at her.

"I said it so you could hear it," Rosé gave him a smile.

"Excuse yourself from this table, young lady," her father snapped at her.

"Gladly," Rosé immediately got up and went upstairs.

They heard her room door shut and Jennie looked at Alice. Alice nodded.

"Excuse me," the younger girl smiled, getting up from her seat.

She walked up to her girlfriend's room and knocked on the door.

"Don't come in."

Jennie rolled her eyes, opening the door anyway.

"You just don't listen, do you?" Rosé grumbled.

"Nope," Jennie shut the door walking over to the older girl.

She sat in the girl's lap, straddling her waist. She moved some hair behind her ear and held her face.

"Are you okay?" she asked.

"I'm fine," Rosé said. "He just doesn't like me. I'm used to it at this point."

"And nobody defends you?"

"There's no use. He's been doing it since I can remember. We can have good days, though. It's rare, but we can get along sometimes."

Jennie nodded, looking Rosé in her eyes. She could tell she was fighting back tears.

"Don't look at me like that, J," Rosé looked away, finally letting the tears fall. "Like you pity me."

"Hey," Jennie turned her girlfriend's face, so she could look at her. "It's okay, baby."

Rosé shut her eyes as Jennie caressed her cheek. The younger girl have her a peck on the lips and wiped her tears.

"Dad's aren't shit, okay?" Jennie smiled. "I don't even know mine. It's fuck men altogether. And that's on what?"

"Period," Rosé smiled. "Can we go to sleep?"

"Yes, we can," Jennie got off of the older girl's lap and they got in bed.

Everything was peaceful late into the night. After dinner was over, it was silent in the house, besides the classical music Rosé's mother left playing downstairs. She claimed it helped her sleep better. Everything was just fine until a little after midnight.

"Rosé?"

The brunette heard her name being called. She woke up; her eyebrows furrowed.

"Jennie?" she didn't bother to turn around.

"Kai?" Jennie's voice was shaking. "No. Please."

"What?" Rosé rubbed her eyes. "J, who are you talking to?"

"Please, stop," the girl began sobbing. "Get off, please."

"Jennie," the older girl finally turned around to see that her girlfriend was sleeping.

"Get off of me!" Jennie began yelling, tears spilling out of her eyes.

"Jennie, wake up, baby," Rosé tapped  the girl's arm.

"Stop!" she was screaming.

"Jennie!" Rosé was shaking her, trying to wake her up.

"Please!"

Alice and Claire ran into the room.

"Roseanne what's going on?" Claire asked.

"She's having a nightmare; I can't wake her up," Rosé was still shaking the girl. Her eyes began getting blurry. She knew what this was about.

"Jennie!" Alice tried to help her sister. "Wake up!"

"What is all of this yelling?" Mason walked into the room, obviously upset.

"It's Jennie. She's having a nightmare," Claire said, her eyes wide.

"A nightmare? How old is she?"

Rosé shook her head, deciding to ignore her father's comment. She pulled back her hand and slapped Jennie. Not hard enough to hurt her, but hard enough to wake her up.

The younger girl jolted awake, frantically looked around the room.

"Hey," Rosé put her hand on her girlfriend's face, which she immediately jumped away from. "It's me, J."

Jennie's eyes were wide, tears still spilling out of them. "Oh, my God," she broke down.

"She's an adult. She shouldn't be having nightmares at this age," Mason commented.

"Fuck off," Alice snapped. "You don't know what's going on in her life. You have no room to talk."

"Go back to bed, Mason," Claire rolled her eyes, clearly annoyed with her husband.

She walked over to Rosé's bad and sat beside Jennie, rubbing her back.

"It's alright, sweetheart," she comforted the girl. "You'll be okay."
