Jennie woke up the next morning with a schedule. She still had one more stage to do until promotions were over. On top of that, she had end of the year award shows to get ready for and her mental health was on its last leg.

Still, she managed to get up and get everything done. She was currently at Music Bank, getting ready to go on stage. They were putting on her mic pack while she was going over her choreography. She had to do something to stop thinking so much.

"Stop moving," her makeup artist came up to her.

Jennie stood still for a second while Maeng fixed her eyelashes. Once she was done, the makeup artist looked at her.

"Yes?" Jennie raised her eyebrow.

Maeng placed her hands on the girl's shoulders.

"Everything is going to turn out just fine," Maeng gave the girl a soft smile.

Jennie smiled. "Thank you," she said.

"Keep your head up," Maeng said as a staff member placed a hand on the back of Jennie's back, signaling that it was time to go on stage.

Jennie gave her makeup artist a quick thank you before going on stage. She tried her best to hide the fact that she was going through it, and put her all into her performance. She got through it with no major issues and went backstage until it was time to announce who won.

She was getting her makeup touched up when there was a soft knock on her dressing room door.

"Come in!" she yelled.

"Cut it out, I'm doing your lips," Maeng scolded the girl.

Jennie rolled her eyes, waving the girl off. Someone wrapped their arm around her and kissed her temple. The singer smiled. She knew that vanilla scent anywhere.

"Hey, Jaehyun," she said, leaning into his hug.

"Stop moving," Maeng said.

"Hey, Jennie," he smiled. "We haven't spoken in a while, so I thought I'd come see you since you're here."

"I'm glad you did," Jennie said. "I missed you."

"I missed you, too," Jaehyun said. "How are things going with—"

"Aht!" Jennie shut him up. "Don't ask."

"Don't tell me—"

"What did I just say?"

Jaehyun raised his eyebrow.

"Jaehyun!" his manager called him.

"I'll text you," he said, giving her a tight squeeze.

"Alright," Jennie waved as he left her room.

"Isn't that your ex?"

"What about it?"

"Didn't you—"

"The past is past," Jennie said. "Are you almost done?"

"Yep," Maeng finished her eye makeup. "It's about time for you to get back on stage anyway."

"Come on, Jennie," Soyeon said.

Jennie got up from her seat and followed her manager out the door. She filed on the stage with the rest of the idols. She did as everyone else, cheering and clapping when appropriate, and waiting until they announced the final two. It was her and a boy group called AB6IX. They were standing side by side watching as their points went up. Nobody was expecting Jennie to win, let alone make it to the top two, with her dating scandal still being so recent, but here she was.

She was too powerful for her own good, watching as her numbers went up. They kept going up, even when AB6IX's stopped, hers continued going. Jennie's eyes went wide and she looked over at Jaehyun. He looked back at her, giving her a huge smile.

The confetti popped, and she was handed her award and mic. She quickly gave her thank you speech, stumbling over her words a bit. After she got done with her encore stage, she ran backstage and into her dressing room.

"Did you guys rig it?" she asked her staff.

"Never that," Soyeon said as she walked past the girl. "You won fair and square."

"Congratulations on your win," Maeng hugged Jennie. "Now, check your socials. You've got a surprise."

Jennie furrowed her eyebrows. She went over to her phone that she left on the couch and turned it on. She saw she had tons of Twitter and Instagram notifications.

"What's this about?" she mumbled. "Why are they saying they're gonna miss me? They know my breaks between comebacks are only a month or so long."

The only thing she could think was that she was getting a longer break. And boy, was she excited.

Jennie had two Twitter accounts. She had her personal account; that she interacted with fans on, and she had her official account; that the company had control over. She didn't even have the password to that account. She went to her official account and immediately saw what was going on.

@official_jennie_: 안녕하세요, YG입니다.

There was a link attached to the tweet. She clicked on it, and as soon as she started reading, she let out a breath she didn't know she was holding.

Hello, this is YG Entertainment.

Jennie, who has been under our company for many years, has terminated her contract due to personal reasons. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused fans.

As a result, all further promotions have been cancelled.

I apologize once again to the fans who waited a lot.

Please give a lot of encouragement to Jennie.
We would like to thank BLINK's and LUCIFER's warm support for Jennie up until now.

Thank you.

It was like a weight had be lifted off of her shoulders.

She was free.
