It was about two weeks later and Jennie was finishing up packing. She was leaving Korea for good. She would come to visit from time to time, but other than that, Korea would never see her again.
She had a flight back to Australia today, but she didn't even know if she was going to live there. She and Rosé weren't on the best terms, so living in the house they have together wasn't really ideal.
"Jennie!"
The singer heard Jackson enter her house.
"Upstairs!" she replied.
Jackson walked up the stairs and stood in Jennie's doorframe. "You almost ready?"
"Yeah," Jennie smiled, zipping up a suitcase. "I just need to pack my carry on."
"I'm gonna miss you," Jackson gave her a fake pout.
"Aw," Jennie cooed. "I'll miss you, too. You know I'll be back to visit, though."
"Well, yeah, but it won't be for a while."
Jennie looked back at him as she went to her dresser. "I just have to wait for everything to calm down, then I'll be back."
"You'll call regularly, right?" Jackson asked.
"Maybe not call," the singer said. "My friends back in Australia aren't the biggest fans of you, but I'll text you everyday. I'll call when I can."
"I understand."
There was a moment of silence before Jackson spoke up again.
"Jennie," he said.
Jennie looked up with a smile. Her face changed to a slightly concerned expression when she saw how serious Jackson was.
"What's wrong?" she asked, zipping up her carry on.
"I've got to tell you something that I've been meaning to tell you for a while now."
Jennie looked at him as she grabbed her suitcase. "What is it?"
"Meet me in the car," Jackson said before leaving the room.
The younger girl was confused, but she grabbed her stuff and followed him to the car anyway. She put her bags in the back and got in the passenger seat beside him.
"You're not going to kidnap me are you?" Jennie joked.
Jackson gave her a fake laugh. "No, of course not."
"Then what's up?"
"How long has it been since we first met?"
"A few months," Jennie said. "Why?"
Jackson let out a sigh and ran his hand through his hair. "Jennie, can I be honest with you?"
Jackson stopped at a light and the two made eye contact.
"What's wrong?" Jennie asked, genuinely worried at this point.
He looked away from her, letting out a huge breath. "Jennie, I really like you."
The younger girl furrowed her eyebrows. "What?"
Jackson looked away as the light turned green.
"When we first met, I already had a small crush on you. Just from knowing about you online. Then when we started spending time together, I started to develop feelings for you," he confessed. "I started to really like you. And over these few months, J, I think I've really fallen for you."
"Fallen for me?" Jennie repeated his words to make sure she understood completely.
"In love," he said, "and of course, you weren't there to catch me. Which, I was expecting that, and I'm glad. I don't deserve you, and Rosé—"
"Hold on," Jennie shook her head. "You're in love with me?"
"I think that's what I just said, yes."
"And you're telling me the day I leave?"
"So you can't reciprocate the feelings," Jackson nodded. "I don't want to be in a relationship with you—"
"But you just said—"
"Rosé is waiting on you in Australia," the older man said. "She's the only one you belong with. I've told you once, and I'll tell you again, I'm not here to replace her."
"But Jackson—"
"I just wanted to let you know. I never intended to make a move on you or anything."
Jennie smiled, grabbing Jackson's hand. "Thank you for telling me."
Jackson smiled back. "Thank you for being such a great friend."
Just like that, the two were at the airport. Jackson and Jennie said their goodbyes with a hug and a kiss on the cheek. He left, and Jennie was on her way to Australia.
She slept for most of the plane ride and when she woke up, there was only an hour left of the ride. She spent that time on Twitter, looking at what people were saying about her leaving the industry. It was a lot of mixed reactions, but for the most part it was positive.
When it was finally time to get off the plane, she grabbed her carry on, got her bags from the luggage claim, and called a taxi. She didn't want to call one of her friends because she didn't want Rosé to be informed that she was at home.
When she got to she and Rosé's house, she took a quick shower and cleaned up a bit. There wasn't much to clean as neither of them had been over there for a while. When Jennie was done, she hung out in the living room for a bit.
Until she heard the from door open. She looked up and there she was. Roseanne Park. Jennie quickly stood up. She adjusted her clothes, letting out a breath.
"Hey."
