(Your POV):
Ms. Warren slammed our responses between our two desks, allowing us to see the bright red F written in the top right corner, "when I assign something as partner work, I expect it to be done as partners. Now I suggest that the two of you sort out whatever problems you have before the next assignment is due or else I have serious doubts that either of you will pass my class.""Ms. Warren, our schedules are completely opposite. I'm never free in the afternoons and that is the only time that he is, we weren't able to do the work together. I don't understand why we got an F, I'm sure that the concepts are correct," I argued, never having gotten such a low grade before.
"I can tell which responses are yours and which ones are Peter's, you were on two completely different pages. While I am ok with you splitting the work, you need to reach a consensus on how you approach it, other wise you will end up with a catapult that certainly will not work because you will be trying to incorporate two completely separate mindsets. You had time in class to get on the same page, you should have used that time more wisely," Ms. Warren replied before continued distributing the assignments back to the groups.
I groaned as I leaned back in my desk, wishing there were some other way I could weasel out a way to avoid fully committing to a collaboration. Parker watched me for a moment before speaking up, "you know, I'm not that bad of a partner. You're acting as though you are being forced to go to a family gathering with the crazy relatives that you never want to see."
I raised my eyebrow, "I'm annoyed, yes, but I don't think I've reached that level quite yet. Now what's the next step?"
"We have another set of questions due tomorrow and then will need to hand in a sketches of our planned catapult early next week," he replied, glancing over the assignment sheet.
"Alright let's get working then," I sighed, pulling up a document on my laptop and spreading a textbook between us.
We began to work on the questions together and I pleasantly surprised by the experience. He hadn't been lying when he promised that he wouldn't dump all of the work onto me. He pitched in with his own ideas, which were either idiotic or brilliant (most of the times it was the latter, unless he was trying to make a joke). Unfortunately, the bell rang off before we had a chance to finish and Parker looked at me, a little concerned.
"How do you want to finish the assignment?" He asked as we began to pack up our things.
I shrugged, "I'm busy most of the night tonight, I don't think I'll be able to meet you anywhere, but I definitely don't want to get another F because we didn't work together enough."
"If you are willing to give me your number, I can call or FaceTime you at some point that would be convenient to you?" He suggested, honestly looked scared that I was going to maul him for even suggesting such a thing.
I sighed, "fine, give me your phone."
Parker passed it over as we left the classroom, walking together to the next class. Still annoyed by this whole situation, I typed in my number and shoved it back into his hand. We fell silent for the remainder of the walk to our next class, me doing the best to ignore him.
"Ooh has Penis Parker finally gotten himself a girlfriend?" I heard Flash Thompson, one of the school's most active bullies taunted as he saw the two of us walking together.
Anger immediately flared up inside me as I stopped to turn to him. Parker must have noticed my reaction because he smoothly stepped between us and spoke, "Flash, she's clearly not my girlfriend, so just drop it."
"I don't know Parker, looked to me as though she just gave you her number," he continued, causing me to snap.
I stepped around Parker to land a solid punch across Flash's face, "it's bad enough that I have to be partnered with him, I'm not going to deal with you making absurd accusations like that. Now run off before you really make me angry."
Flash did as I suggested he do, sprinting to his next class, holding his cheek and causing the small gathered crowd to disperse. I turned back to Parker, who was staring at me with shock and almost fear in his eyes. The look made me smile, I always enjoyed proof that I intimidated others. It meant that I was doing my job correctly and I was actually be taken as a serious threat.
"Woah, where did you learn to do that?" Parker finally asked me as he overcame his shock.
I shrugged, "I've grown up in the city, a girl's gotta learn how to defend herself."
At the end of the school day, I was itching to get out in my suit. It didn't bother me that the city was still bathed in daylight, I just needed to let out some of my pent up anger. Anger at Ms. Warren for forcing me to participate in a partnership, anger at myself for not really minding working with Parker, and anger at Flash for his rude comments. Let the city know that the Void never really disappeared. One day the city would look to her as a beacon of hope, as soon as they began to see that the Avengers were the true threats to society.
I had three kills left for me by my parents so I immediately got suited up and snuck out of my apartment. Because it was still light out, I had to be more careful than usual that no one saw me climb out my apartment window, the last thing that I needed was for people to find out where Void lived. However, I seemed to get out on the street without anyone noticing me and I immediately began to sneak my way through the streets of New York, a task that was significantly harder during the day.
The first kill was easy, she was still at work and no one entered her office to check in on her. The second was considerably more difficult. His work was one of those that for some reason wanted all of the walls to be glass. Unfortunately that meant I would be commuting the crime right in front of them and I briefly considered heading back home and finishing it up at night.
However, an idea sparked and I threw the gas bomb that I kept for emergencies into the building, causing everyone who inhaled the gas to pass out. My mask filtering out the gas for me, I was able to use the chemicals to conceal myself as I walked through the corporation, located my target's office. I shot him with my silencer and then cut off his hand and one of his eyeballs, knowing that my parents needed him to pass retinal and fingerprint scanners.
Safely wrapping up both body parts and attaching them to my utility belt, I was about to leave when I head a voice speak from the corner of the room.
"Taking body parts off of dead guys is kinda weird, I hope you know that. I'm going to assume by your threatening appearance and the fact that you just hacked off that guy's hand that you're the person behind all of this commotion," a young male's voice spoke, causing me to whip my head in his direction. The city's newest 'hero,' Spider-Man was hanging from the ceiling in the corner of the room, watching my movements intently.
