(Your POV):
"Are you really surprised that the two of you got first place?" Ned asked as we sat down at our lunch table. Ever since that first day Peter invited me to the table, he found excuses to have me sit with him during lunch until it became a habit of mine."I mean we did do quite a bit of testing on Sunday, but you never know what people are going to whip out at this school. However, I am happy that we won as that basically guarantees us an A," I replied, thankful that the project was over. That meant for about a week or so I wouldn't have to work with Peter outside of school and could therefore limit how much I was seeing him.
Michelle looked up from her book, "you do realize that Peter has an uncanny ability in physics and you are the top of the class, I don't know why you'd be worried about getting less than an A."
"She always worries about those things, she can mess up her plan," Peter teased, sending me a smile.
Ignoring the fluttering feeling, I shot back, "like you don't care about your grades. I thought you were planning on attending MIT? I'm sorry to tell you, but you're going to need stellar grades to make it into that prestigious school."
"Well if it isn't the charming (Y/N) here to bless us once again with her delightful attitude," Harry smirked as he joined the table, causing me to roll my eyes at him.
"I can't help it when you are literally the worst, Osborn," I retorted, finally turning to my food.
"Hey, I'd watch out, I'm sure I can get my dad to let your parents go," he replied, but I could tell that he wasn't being serious.
I shrugged in response, "that would be Oscorp's loss. Besides, I don't think your father would really do something so idiotic."
"Hey, (Y/N), Ned and I are going to be coming over my apartment tonight to study for the chem test tomorrow, do wanna join us? I know that you said you weren't as comfortable in chemistry as some of your other subjects, so maybe we can help. And of course vice versa. I doubt that we know everything that you do, even if you claim that it is your worst subject after physics," Peter proposed, getting nervous at the end that he was insulting me.
I quickly shook my head, knowing that spending more time with Peter was the last thing that I needed to be doing right now, "I'm sorry, I'm sure it would be very helpful, but I actually have a family thing tonight. I think I have a pretty good grasp on this section, so I should be fine. But perhaps next time?"
I didn't miss how Peter's face fell slightly when I rejected me, but I tried not to let it pain me. He quickly recovered and gave me a nod, "Yeah, totally. It sucks that the timing couldn't have worked out. I'll let you know the next time we plan on having a study session."
Trying to keep a boy out of your head when he's in a majority of your classes is incredibly difficult. Especially when you're specifically trying not to think of him. I felt absurdly relieved when I arrived home that day, finally free from his constant presence. I reviewed my missions for the evening and determined that I could easily achieve them both at night so I instead began to work on my essay for English that was due at the end of the week. With most of my attention invested in the catapult project, I hadn't really started it and hadn't realized it until I was sitting in class today.
After a few hours, taking a few breaks in between to work on other homework, I finally finished the first draft and decided to reward myself by completing my missions. This time I had only made it to my first target's work before getting confronted by Spider-Man.
"Hey, Void, I've been looking for you," he called out immediately shooting webs at me to tie me up.
"How convenient, I've been trying to avoid you," I replied as I used my powers to cut through the webbing. However the blade couldn't break the strands binding me to the wall, much to my annoyance.
"I've been upgrading. Now, if you don't mind, I'm going to be turning you into the Avengers before you drop another building on me. It's getting kinda annoying, you know?"
Before Spider-Man could take another step, I threw a number of my blades at him. He immediately leapt up to avoid them, but one of them succeeded in cutting his skin. I doubted that the cut was all that deep, it was probably just a scratch, but I was happy with the result nonetheless. Besides, it provided me with a distraction so that I could burn the webbing that was still pinning me to the wall. Thankfully Spider-Man had yet to learn to make his webbing fire-proof and I was able to be freed, with only minimal injury from the flames.
I then engaged Spider-Man in hand to hand combat, impressed by how well he blocked each of my attacks. His reflexes were truly incredible, but I prided myself on being better trained. I refused to let him get a counter attack, relentlessly sending kick after punch and then using my telekinesis to add to the number of things he had to defend against.
Although I only managed to lay a few hits on him, I was able to bury one of my knives in his thigh, causing him to cry out in pain. However, I had no time to take advantage of my hit, hearing the fast approaching sirens in the distance. I yanked my blade from his leg and kicked him in the chest, pushing him onto the ground. I was about to tie him up so that I could escort him to H.A.M.M.E.R. when the cruisers rounded the corner, surrounding us.
I quickly escaped by grappling up on top of a nearby building and ran from the scene, knowing that Spider-Man was pulling himself up from the ground and pursuing me, despite his injuries. To be fair, I hadn't hurt him too badly during our little fight, not nearly as much he would be hurt during an interrogation. However, the injuries did slow him down a bit and I was able to evade him and continue completing my missions for the night, careful not to be found by him again.
