Allie
~~~
Outside the hospital Steve, Natasha, and I pause, eyes darting around the parking lot.
"Which car do you think is Tony's?" Steve murmurs and I shrug. "He must be here right? If he isn't I can hotwire a car for us." Wait, Steve can hotwire cars?
"Well, what kind of car do you think Tony would bring to be covert?" I say and Natasha and Steve share a look.
"What's your favorite kind of car Allie?"
"In high school Alex drove a Nissan Pathfinder and so I have to say a Nissan Pathfinder," I answer and smile at the memories of our early mornings and late nights in that car. "Actually only her Nissan Pathfinder. I think she still drives it...wait why?"
"He's in a Nissan Pathfinder then," Natasha concludes and I furrow my eyebrows. Why would Tony be in a Nissan Pathfinder?
Her and Steve start walking down a row of cars, keeping me between them, and scan for a specific vehicle.
"What color is Alex's?" Steve asks.
"Black, but I don't think To-oh my God it's my sisters car," I gasp, cutting my response short. In the far back of the lot, in one of the last parking spaces, sits a black Nissan Pathfinder, Alexandra Holden's black Nissan Pathfinder. But it can't be her exact car; why would Tony have Alex's car? It's just the same make and model and color.
Natasha and Steve begin walking at a faster pace towards the car but I hesitate to match their steps. I hope Alex isn't mixed up in this.
When Steve and Natasha near the car the drivers side door swings open and Tony steps out. He is clad in a baseball cap, sunglasses, a hoodie, and jeans. The undercover genius tilts his head up, fully revealing his identity to the three of us and suddenly I'm overwhelmed with emotion and with the events of the past twenty-four hours.
Before I know it I'm sprinting past Steve and Natasha and right into Tony's awaiting arms. Tony catches me and holds me close, lifting me slightly off my feet, and presses his face into my neck. I can hear his relieved breaths in my ear and feel as he kisses my neck sweetly. Tears prick at my vision as I cling to him.
"You're okay. Oh, you're okay," he murmurs and strokes my hair. "I'm here now." His assurances are for me but for him as well; he needs to know that I'm alright. Tony moves his hands to cradle my head and pulls back to gaze upon me. "You're okay." He presses his forehead to mine and exhales a final sigh of relief.
"I'm okay," I promise and hold his right hand against my cheek. Instinctively I grab his other hand and pull it against my chest, gripping it tightly.
"We got you. It's okay," he soothes, echoing the words he and Gabie said to me after my resurrection. I nod my head and sniffle, trying to blink my tears away. Tony kisses my forehead one more time and then nods to Nat and Steve.
"Thank you, for coming," Steve says sincerely.
"How could I not?" he returns. "You two were carted off to SHIELD after an assassination in your apartment and next thing I know Jarvis is showing me video of your bodies crashing through a glass ceiling into the SHIELD lobby." At his last words Tony kisses my head and tightens his grip on me.
The image of Tony desperately reaching out to me flashes through my mind and has me clenching down on his hand.
Suddenly the rig shifts and time seems to slow down. My body falls and my hand grazes Tony's grip.
"It's okay Tony, I love you, and I know you did the best you could."
And then I fall screaming into the fiery pit beneath.
