When I wake, the bed feels cold and hard. Brayden and Ed are on the floor sleeping, and I can hear snores coming from the lounge. I slip out of bed and go to the toilet which is full of dead flies and has mould beginning to grow in the corners of the ceiling. I then head to the bathroom and look in the mirror. My hair is messy and looks really oily, my face has dirt on it and my teeth are going yellow from the lack of brushing them. I open up the wooden cabinets to see if there are any tooth brushes. There are exactly seven, no more, no less. One of them must be my mums. I take out a green one, assuming that mum would have chosen a pink or a purple one. It's relatively clean so I just put toothpaste on it and begin brushing. I take a better look at the bathroom and see that the wooden cabinets are scratched nearly everywhere and there is a slight crack in the mirror off to the top right hand side. The black tiles have been stained with what looks like nail polish or hair dye. When I'm done, I rinse and head to the lounge room. Rachel and Ally are sleeping on the couch and Ellen is on the floor. I head to the kitchen and take out some milk and disgustingly horrifying 'healthy' cereal. Gross. I take out an old bowl that looks like it was used to poop in and pour the milk and cereal into it. Rachel wakes up, gives me an irritated look, and goes back to sleep. Ally begins sleep talking and says something that sounds like:
"I said hi to the ginger bread boy. He wasn't an ordinary boy. But he didn't wave to me, so he got knocked down".
"Okay..." I said quietly to myself. "You do that".
"What?" Ellen woke up and asked.
"Ally was just sleep talking" I tell her.
"BECAUSE I FLOW!" Ally yelled and jolted upright, before lying back down on her back.
"Oh my gosh that is so funny!" She said as she began cracking up laughing.
"Yeah" I say, beginning to chuckle a little myself.
"You know..." Ellen says to me. "We haven't had much time alone for a while". I start to swallow a spoonful of cereal but ended up spitting it out.
"Oh" I tell her. "We haven't have we?"
"Nope" she says as she beckons me over with her hand. I do as she tells me to, and sit next to her on the floor.
"So..." She says to me, "how is life?"
"Good" I reply, laughing a little at the random question.
"That's good" she tells me and puts her mouth to my ear. "I've missed hugging each other".
"Me too" I say as I put my arm around her.
She leans in for a kiss and I follow suit, and as our lips are about to touch Ally wakes up, and we break apart as she turns to us.
"I had this weird dream about a boy that was made of gingerbread, and I ended up knocking him out" she says, looking up at the ceiling.
"Wow" I say to her, "That must have been some dream". Ellen and I start laughing again and Ally asks us:
"What's so funny?"
