Eddy woke up first, the memories flooding back as he felt the sticky evidence of last night's activities between them.
Wow. That had actually happened. They had made love, for he could come up with no other term to aptly describe what they had done.
He had no idea what would come next, and he was very worried Brett might have regrets, despite what he had said to him. But, first things first: today was concert day, and it was time to get up and start preparing. Luckily he hadn't woken up too late, since setting an alarm clock had been the last thing on anyone's mind.
Brett was still sleeping next to him, so Eddy leaned over slightly and kissed him on his soft lips.
¨Hey, sleepy head. Time to rise and shine.¨
Brett opened his eyes, blinked, and then a warm smile spread over his face.
¨Hey. Wow. Did that really happen?¨ he said, echoing Eddy's thoughts of just a minute ago.
¨I think so...¨ he said, somewhat shyly. ¨You good with that?¨
Brett was silent for a few seconds.
¨Eddy... I've been in love with you for so long, and last night... last night was simply the best night I've ever had. I understand the risks involved, especially now we're together 24/7 for a while. But I have to say, I just can't imagine ever feeling any other way about you. And I just don't want to be without you ever again.¨
He closed his eyes for a moment. ¨I hope that's not too forward of me...¨
All of Eddy's being lit up with happiness at these words, and he knew right then he'd go to the end of the world for this man. He said, simply and honestly:
¨I feel the same way, about you and about last night. Let's just take it one step at a time, and let's just keep talking to each other, like we always do. I'm sure we'll work it out."
They hit the shower quickly, and separately, both knowing that they wouldn't be quick if they went in together.
As Brett came out of the shower with a towel around his waist, Eddy couldn't help but gawk at him, and the memories of last night sent an electric current right to his groin. Brett saw him looking and smiled.
¨Yeah, that's going to be a bit inconvenient hey, especially being around people who have no idea we're not ¨just¨ best friends anymore¨.
Eddy laughed.
¨We'll just have to control ourselves and focus on the music. But you have a good point... I take it we're going to keep this under wraps for now?¨
Brett eyed him with a serious look on his face.
¨Yeah, definitely. Wow, I hadn't even really thought about how the world might perceive us... how our fans will react...¨
Eddy looked at him and said:
¨I know. It worries me too. But that's a problem for another day. For now, let's just enjoy each other, without the world being involved.¨
He gave Brett a quick peck on the lips, and with that, they got ready and headed out to the venue.
The venue was not actually that far from the hotel, so they walked it this time. They both loved Asia, for how different it was from Australia, but more than that for how it reminded them of their heritage.
They walked past the stalls selling street food and weaved through the throngs of people, breathing in the smells of Asia, until soon enough they found themselves in front of the concert hall.
They looked at each other smiling, and Eddy said, touching his hand lightly:
¨Here we go!¨
An usher took them to their dressing room, which was surprisingly spacious.
Eddy looked at the mirrors, with the obligatory light bulbs around them, and took a deep breath. They were really here, their first concert was going to happen, they had made it.
He suddenly thought of his mum, who had kept telling him to cut it out with Twoset, because they weren't making any money yet. Who had always wanted him to be ¨doctor¨.
He thought of his dentist dad, who had told him: ¨if you're going to look at mouths all day, you better make sure you're passionate about it¨.
Well, he had dared follow his passion, had dared go against the stream at every turn, and now look at him. A sold out concert, a world tour.
He swiped at the tears, threatening to spill over, and straight away he felt two strong arms around him. He turned around and buried his face in Brett's chest, sobbing quietly.
¨Hey! What's up? You okay?¨
¨It's all good, just reminiscing. I'm just so glad we made it here, together. I'm okay.¨
