Brett's soft groan woke Eddy up, and he turned on his left side straight away.
¨Hey my love, good morning. You good?¨
Brett groaned again.
¨Fuck, my head is killing me. Why did I drink so much last night?¨
Eddy smiled slightly at his croaky voice as he raised his hand to stroke Brett's head.
¨Because you were having a good time? Stay here, I'll go grab you some paracetamol.¨
¨Ibuprofen, please.¨ Brett croaked.
Eddy jumped out of bed. He was so glad he hadn't gotten too drunk yesterday night, because he was feeling fine, if a little tired. He opened their small medicine box, took out the tablets and then he walked into the kitchen to get him something to wash them down with.
He poured some orange juice into a glass and brought everything back to the bedroom.
¨Hey.¨ he said softly, knowing that loudness would make Brett more uncomfortable, ¨got your tablets. How's your stomach?¨
Brett took the tablets and smiled gratefully when he saw the juice.
¨Okay, I think. But I'm an idiot and you must never let me drink again.¨
Eddy couldn't help the little snigger.
¨Sure thing. And I'll stop the tide, next time we go to the beach, while we're at it?¨
He just about ducked in time, before the pillow Brett hurled at him would hit his face.
¨I'll let you recover for a little bit, okay?¨ he laughed. ¨I'll make some breakfast.¨
¨Thanks, Eddy, you're the best.¨

He busied himself in the kitchen with pans and eggs, knowing that protein was a good idea when you had a hangover. He smiled fondly as he remembered the night before.
Not that he'd thought they'd get any negative responses; he knew their friends and he knew how loving and open-minded they were. But still, there had been a little part of him that had been worried. Instead, they'd received so much love and support... it was great to feel like there were people there to have your back.
The eggs were done, so he tiptoed back to the bedroom to see if Brett had fallen back to sleep, but as he opened the door he saw him sitting on the edge of the bed.
¨Hey, tablets helping?¨ he asked.
¨Yeah, some. I'm just giving my stomach a moment to settle.¨
Brett got up then and walked over to him, still squinting slightly with his headache. He put his arms around Eddy and squeezed tight.
¨It was good, hey?¨ he said softly.
¨It was very good. Come on, your eggs are getting cold.¨

Brett ate with small, careful bites, but the eggs went in, and when the plate was empty some colour had returned to his cheeks.
¨So, I was thinking.¨ Brett said. ¨We should start on the nursery. I got this whole list of things we need to buy, times two.¨
¨Awesome!¨ Eddy said, feeling the enthusiasm spread in his chest. He'd not even really considered this, but now that they'd had that ultrasound and they knew everything was good they could really start preparing for it all. ¨They'll have to share what is now the guest room, right?¨
¨Yeah, I guess they go into our room with us at first though. Rooming-in is recommended the first months.¨
Eddy grinned. ¨You mean, the months we'll go without sleep?¨
¨Yup, that's the ones!¨ Brett said brightly.
Eddy could see how much Brett was looking forward to it all and it filled him with joy. He was incredibly happy with the babies, obviously, but he was also very happy with what it seemed to bring Brett. He hoped that it would give him the security he'd always searched, being someone's dad. Two someones's dad, in fact!
¨What are you thinking about?¨ Brett asked, his eyebrows knitted together.
Eddy smiled. ¨Just, that I think us becoming a family is bringing us a lot.¨

They spent the afternoon going into every single shop they'd never visited before in their lives.
¨What the fuck are changing pads?¨ Brett asked, squinting at the list in his hand.
¨I think they're the things you put the baby on to change the nappies?¨
Brett grimaced.
¨Ah, yes. That part of parenthood I'm most looking forward to.¨
¨Times two!¨ Eddy grinned, and Brett smirked at him.
¨Yeah, times two.¨
Eddy smiled. Everything, times two. How awesome was that.

After a few hours of shopping they arrived back at their apartment with a thousand bags, their arms full of all sorts of stuff they'd never even considered needing, and loaded it all into what would become the nursery.
¨We should ask Ibo and Elina to come help us with this.¨ Eddy said. ¨I'm sure they'll love to be included.¨
¨Yeah! Good idea!¨ Brett replied, putting the changing pads down against one wall. ¨Can you help me get the boxes with the cribs and the dressers out of the car? I can't carry them on my own¨
¨Yep, of course.¨
It was heavy work, but soon enough everything was stacked in the little room.
¨Yeah, we'll definitely need some help with this.¨ Eddy said, surveying the mountain of stuff around him.
Brett nodded. ¨I'll text them, set a date.¨
He wrapped his arms around Eddy and whispered in his ear.
¨It's going to be the best, Eddy, I just know it. The very, very best.¨
