As they walked back into the house the lady of the B&B, Eddy thought her name was Marge, said hello. Automatically Eddy responded whilst Brett carried on to their room surreptitiously. The couple who owned the place seemed lovely so far, Eddy really liked them. They were very, very Australian retired dairy farmers who had opened this little B&B with their savings when they sold their farm. Now they were living a small, quiet life here together with their visitors.
They had three children who were long since grown, and Eddy got the distinct feeling the lady really liked having people to care for.
He smiled, as they made small talk about Twoset. Would this be him and Brett, in 40 years time, he wondered? Grown kids? Living a quiet life? Somehow he doubted they would ever go for quiet. He stifled a grin.
Well, he might. Brett wouldn't.

When he walked into their room Brett was in the bathroom, but the door was open, so he wandered in. Brett was running his wrists under water, and judging from his dripping face he'd splashed a lot of it in his face too.
¨Hey, gorgeous.¨ Eddy said, walking over to him and enveloping him in his arms.
Brett let himself be pulled in, snuggling into Eddy's chest.
¨You know, I love that you're taller than me.¨ he said suddenly, his tone warm.
¨Oh yeah? How come?¨
¨'cause I can hide in here, in your arms. It feels so safe.¨
Eddy smiled fondly. ¨I'm so glad. But you make me feel safe too, even if you're shorter.¨
Brett didn't reply, he just snuggled a bit more.
¨Wanna sit on our terrace for a while?¨ Eddy asked. ¨Maybe we can work out some video ideas while we're there?¨
¨Sure.¨ Brett smiled. ¨I've actually got a few ideas for charades.¨

They sat down for a while, not bothering with the white plastic lawn chairs but just sitting on the ground, crossing their legs. They didn't have their laptop, of course, so Eddy just typed out all the ideas on his phone. The sun was shining, but they were so close to the sea that the heat wasn't stifling. There was this little mild sea breeze that made it really nice out.
¨Wow, this is quite an office, hey?¨ he said, looking at the flowering plants in the garden.
Brett nodded. ¨Yeah. I love it. Anyway, if we want to play all this stuff in the upcoming videos we better get some practice in!¨
Eddy had made sure when he reserved that the owners didn't mind them making music, so they happily took their violins out of their cases, not even bothering to close the French doors.
Brett rummaged around with the tablet, downloading some new stuff while Eddy got the stand out of the bag.
¨Ow! Fuck!¨ he swore after a minute, sucking his finger.
¨What happened?¨ Brett asked as he walked over.
¨Got my finger stuck in the stand. Seriously. I've been using these bloody things for 20 odd years and I still can't get them to cooperate!¨
He tried not to, Eddy could see, but Brett started laughing.
¨Sorry dude. I shouldn't laugh.¨
Eddy grinned. ¨Well, at least it's my right hand hey? Anyway, you can put up the stand as thanks for laughing at me.¨
¨You're welcome.¨ Brett quipped as he tried to get the stand to cooperate. ¨Want me to kiss it better?¨
Eddy grinned again and held out his finger. ¨Kisses from you? Always.¨
Brett took the finger with a flourish and gave it an exaggerated kiss.
¨There you go. All better.¨

Playing together was great, as it always was. Especially now that there weren't a thousand things waiting for their attention, they could just give themselves over to the music and enjoy it.
So it was with pink cheeks and big smiles that they made their way over to the common area to have dinner.
Marge had gone all out, making them fried rice with all the trimmings and lighting some candles on their table with the checkered table cloth.
¨I figured you lads could do with some romance.¨ she said with a wink, before retiring to the kitchen more quickly than they could say 'thank you, Marge.'
They sat, they ate, they chatted. It was heaven. And every time Eddy looked over to Brett he saw him smiling. Really smiling. He hoped that that real smile would stay on his face for a long time.
