Eddy smiled at the feeling of butterflies in his belly. How ridiculous that he would be nervous: they'd been together for so long and had spent every night together, hadn't they?
But at the same time, he guessed, it was good he was still so much in love with him.
Heh, he mused. Who was he kidding? He was always going to be so much in love with him.
He just wanted tonight, their last night in this little cabin that had become so very dear to them, to be special. He scoured the apartment for some matches so he could light the candles he had secretly bought this afternoon when they were shopping. The rose petals were on the neatly made bed already and the table was set.
He rummaged around the drawers, absentmindedly sucking his finger where a thorn had dug into his flesh when he was taking the petals off the bunch of roses he'd sacrificed for this moment.
There were no matches anywhere. But hang on, they had a gas cooker, didn't they? Not that they'd used it...
He lit the first candle on the gas cooker and then lit the others from that. The two dinner candles went on the table and he put night lights on all the surfaces.
Then he turned the light off and looked around him.
It looked good, and he smiled again. Brett would be back soon with their take-away dinner.
He hadn't questioned when Eddy had wanted to stay back, feigning some left-over soreness from their hike. When the door opened Eddy was sat on the edge of the bed, dressed in his nicest shirt, which he'd left unbuttoned.
Brett walked in and froze. He took in the room and the man on the bed and his eyes opened wide, his jaw dropping.
¨Wha?¨ he managed after a moment, clearly astounded.
Eddy smiled and got up, slowly sauntering over to his love, and took the bag of take-out from his hands. Then he cupped Brett's face with his hands and kissed him softly and tenderly.
¨I thought I'd make tonight special¨, he whispered in his ear. ¨Come on, let's eat first, hey?¨
He walked over to the little table with the two chairs, the two candles blazing on top of it, took the food out of the bag and moved Brett's chair back so he could sit.
The sound of the chair scraping over the tiles seemed to un-freeze Brett, and he meekly walked over to the table and sat down.
¨Wow.¨ he said. ¨I didn't know...¨
Then he grinned.
¨You didn't know what?¨ Eddy asked.
¨Nah, I'm going to sound like a jerk if I say that¨. Brett said with a slight smile.
¨Oh come on!¨ Eddy half-whined, his hands opening and shooting out to the side. ¨You can't do that! Just tell me!¨
¨Okay, okay.¨ Brett said, shaking his head. ¨It's just... I've known you forever and knew that you're thoughtful and stuff, but I didn't know you could be this romantic.¨
Eddy laughed for a second, before he became serious again.
¨Well, if you must know, I've never done something like this before.¨
Brett's face lit up. ¨So I'm not just your first guy, then, huh?¨
¨Nope.¨ Eddy replied simply. ¨You're the first person I've ever really loved.¨
Brett closed his eyes and breathed in deeply, almost as if he were breathing in the words that Eddy had said, keeping them safe inside of him.
¨Well, you already know that you're the first person I've ever loved too¨, he said with that coy smile that was reserved only for Eddy.
Eddy took Brett's hand and looked straight into his eyes. ¨And that makes me the luckiest guy in the world.¨
A/N Hi guys, I have exciting news! (Well, exciting to me, anyway ;))
Today I've started a new breddy fanfic, you can find it through my profile. It's called Andante and it delves into the start of Brett and Eddy.
I hope to see you all there!
(Any bets on whether I can keep posting on both stories regularly?)
Also, if you have any wishes for this one, just leave them in the comments!
