Eddy had spent a lot of the night thinking, and in the morning his mind was made up: he knew exactly what he wanted to do to erase Brett's insecurities.

He even knew, after some research on his phone, where he wanted to go. But he did have to find a way to go off on his own for a while, and as they'd basically been joined at the hip for the past weeks, he had no idea how to pull that off.

It was rehearsal day, and they were at the venue early.
Brett was usually the one who ironed out the details for the meet and greet with the venue, and today that was being difficult. He was trying to get the lady of the venue to understand that all of the audience would stay for the meet, but the lady really wasn' t having it, and kept explaining that usually only a small percentage of the audience stayed behind, no matter how much Brett tried to explain what they'd experienced so far.
Tomorrow after the concert was going to be carnage, he could feel it coming...

¨Brett?¨ he called, after a while. Brett turned around and looked at him.
¨Yeah?¨
¨I'm just gonna go off and get some lunch, okay?¨
¨Oh, can't someone else do it? Do you want me to come?¨ Brett asked.
¨No bro, I'm good. You sort shit out here. I could do with the outside air. ¨

As soon as he got out of the door of the theatre he set off running. He didn't have much time before Brett would start wondering how long it took to get some sandwiches made.
He'd seen on Google Maps there was a Subway in the street he needed to get to.
He'd memorised the map, so it wasn't long before he was in the shop he'd wanted, breathless from the running and from the excitement of the surprise he was planning.

He actually found the perfect item almost straight away. It just screamed ¨Brett¨.
It wasn't expensive, but then it didn't need to be. It was just between them anyway.

He ran back out, the little suprise in his pocket, and rushed into the Subway to order several foot longs, before legging it back to the concert hall.

He made himself walk the last block or so, so he wouldn't run in out of breath, but when he got back into the venue, carrying several bags of subs, Brett eyed him with question marks in his eyes anyway.
Eddy shook his head slightly. Brett's ability to see right through him was very inconvenient sometimes.
¨Hey!¨ he said. ¨Look! Lunch! Am I a good P.A. or what?¨
He grinned.  ¨Did you get everything sorted out with that pleasant lady?¨
Brett puffed up his cheeks and exhaled with force, clearly still irritated.
¨Yeah, that's gonna go swimmingly¨ he said sarcastically. ¨I'm just not getting it through to her!¨
Eddy sighed. ¨Well, I guess we'll just have to take it as it comes.¨

Luckily, the rest of the afternoon went a lot smoother, and rehearsing went fine. They felt good about concert day.

¨Do you want to go out to eat?¨ Brett asked, at the end of the day.
Eddy thought for a second. He didn't want to give Brett his present in public, he'd much rather it just be Brett and him alone. And with Brett already suspicious he couldn't wait too long. So he said:
¨Actually, I'm still kinda tired, do you mind if we just go back to the hotel room and order some take out?¨
Brett looked at him questioningly again.
Fuck, he clearly knew something was up. He'd have to give him his suprise soon, or it would actually make him more insecure, not less. Brett shrugged and said:
¨Sure! I think I saw a menu for a Chinese place somewhere.¨

It really wasn't going that well with Eddy's plan to try different cuisines in the US.

Soon enough they were sat in their room, and Brett was calling in the order.
¨They're saying it will take about an hour, because it's very busy¨, Brett said as he put down the phone.
¨Okay, no worries.¨
By this point, Eddy was so nervous he knew there was no way he could eat anyway,  and he inhaled deeply. It was time.

So he got up and sat right next to Brett on the bed, who looked up to him, suprised, and started.

¨Brett, I've been wondering what I could do to make you understand you're the most important thing in the world to me. ¨
Brett opened his mouth to speak, but Eddy quickly interrupted.
¨No, no, you can talk in a minute. Just let me get this out, okay?¨
Brett closed his mouth again, and just looked at him.
¨So. I've been thinking a lot about that, and I realised, the simple truth is that I just never ever want to be without you ever again. So I got you a little something to let you see that.¨
He sunk down on the floor on his right knee, looking up at Brett, the little box open in his hand.

¨Brett Yang, I love you more every day, and I would like to love you for ever and ever. Would you please let me do that, and marry me?¨
