"Phil, we're going to miss our train, please let me take that from you!" Dan grabbed the handle of Phil's suitcase and grabbed his hand.

"But Dan!" Phil protested, "Dan, the train to London leaves from back that way!" Phil argued, gesturing behind him.

"I know that Phil!" Dan said, still pulling Phil through the crowd.

"Then why are we going in the opposite direction?" Phil pleaded, "Dan the only station this far down is the 3:00 leaving for--" Phil caught the destination sign out of the corner of his eye. He stopped in his tracks. "Dan."

"Phil we don't have time for this right now!" Dan pleaded, "Please, hurry!"

Phil picked up speed, ignoring the pain which was beginning to shoot downward from his thigh. They reached the platform just as the sign began to flash "Final boarding call: 15:00 train to Amsterdam."

"What?" Dan asked as he sat next to his boyfriend, who was giving him the glare of the century.

"I can't believe you." Phil said.

"What?"

"I can't believe you managed to keep it a secret from me!" Phil laughed, nudging Dan in the arm.

"To be honest, I can't either." Dan admitted with a laugh.

"Amsterdam," Phil said, "Just like The Fault in our Stars."

"Exactly like that actually," Dan smiled, his cheeks turning bright red, "We're going to stay in the same hotel, eating in the same restaurants, we're visting the Anne Frank House... if you want I mean," Dan glanced down at Phil's leg which hhe had been subconciously rubbing, "I even bought this!" Dan laughed, pulling a blue t-shirt out of his backpack and holding it up. It had an image of a pipe on it and said "This is not a pipe" underneath, just like Hazel's shirt in TFIOS.

"You're such a dork." Phil laughed,

"That's all I get?" Dan asked, "Really? All that and the best  get is being called a dork?"

"My dork," Phil corrected, leaning in toward Dan.

"That's better," Dan said, gently kissing his boyfriend's lips. "I love you," he whispered.

"I love you too," Phil smiled, a blush creeping into his cheeks.

It was an eight hour journey from Paris to Amsterdam. When the teo boys arrived at their hotel that night it was nearing midnight. Sleepily, Dan checked in and a bellhop in all green showed them their way to their room. Phil crashed immediately and was asleep minutes after hitting the bed, still in his jeans. Dan tried his best to cover him and make him at least somewhat comfortable before stripping into his boxers and joinging him in bed. He laid down next to Phil's sleeping form and took him into his arms, holding him tightly against his body. It had only been a few months since Phil's diagnosis, but as Dan held him, it was obvious that he'd lost a tremendous anount of weight. Phil had always been scrawny, but now Dan could easily feel his ribs. Dan took one of Phils hands in his and examined his long, slender fingers which seemed to be all bone. His wrists were no better.

"Poor angel," Dan whispered, a tear building in his eye. He kissed Phil's forehead and pulled him in tighter. "I love you so much," he said, "I just wish I could make this stop." A tear rolled down his cheek, closely followed by another. And another. Dan trembled and shook, clutching the love of his life against him, and cried himself to sleep.
