"Well if it isn't the waste of time and space itself"Harsh words rang out from behind me causing me to turn around. My other two pokemon assumed defensive positions in front of me. The Growlithe in my arms jumped out and ran over to a boy who didn't seem much older than me. The boy showed no signs of warmth, only a frigid expression displayed on his face.
"How many times do I have to say, I don't want you with me!"
The boy sent out a pokemon to stop the Growlithe from coming any closer. I could feel the confusion running through the dog pokemon's mind. It was horrible that this trainer thought that they could throw their weight around and leave their pokemon alone in the wild.
"Quilava get it away using flamethrower."
Even though there was little to no distance between them, Growlithe was still able to avoid the attack with great agility. This time I had to speak out and try to stop the situation escalating.
"Hey! You can't abandon your pokemon like that! Growlithe placed its trust in you and you left it alone without an explanation!"
The boy only smirked in response before continuing, "This Growlithe's a weak piece of shit!"
I diverted my attention to Growlithe, seeing that the comment affected him deeply, "Why don't we show him your real strength?"
The orange dog pokemon nodded, accepting the invitation to battle.
"Just a warning before we start,
I go for the kill."
---
The earlier scan of the pokedex told me about the moves and capabilities of Growlithe and now was the time to put them to the test in order to shut this excuse of a trainer up.
"Alright Growlithe, let's start with flame burst!"
"Get them with flamethrower!"
Both fire type attacks hit head on, dissipating between both pokemon. I owed it to Growlithe to ensure the victory now, so we weren't going to lose.
"Now take down!"
Growlithe's body became cloaked in a faint white light as he charged straight into Quilava scoring a direct hit. However, the opponent fired back with a swift attack. Growlithe was stunned by the quick retaliation and the injuries from earlier were beginning to add up.
"See what did I say, weak!"
"Don't listen to him Growlithe, fire back with flame burst!"
The fire attack moved through the air with such pace that Quilava didn't have enough time to see it coming and once more suffered a direct hit.
"We're not giving them a break, use bite!"
Growlithe's attack was cut out by a sudden quick attack which caused the dog pokemon to stumble backwards, losing balance for a second.
"Don't stop Quilava, double edge."
Neither me nor Growlithe moved for a second as our thoughts synced. I could see the dog pokemon nodding in agreement with the plan.
"Wait for it...
wait for it...
not just yet...
