Divinity Reincarnate

The defeat of Arcanine now meant that both Lysandre and I were down to our last pokemon. With the valiant effort of my team, we were able to pull back the early deficit, even pulling heading before the most recent battle.

"Dragonite, let's give it everything we've got!"

A proud roar from the winged dragon pierced through the deafening winds, filling what was left of the tattered arena. Neither of our opponents flinched at the display of power, confident in their abilities.

Once more, my irises began to burn up slightly. I had to hold my open palms over my eyes so that I wasn't blinded by the overwhelming surroundings. Quickly, I adjusted my eyesight, spitting out blood that had filled in my mouth.

Dragonite waited patiently for my call, staring down her equally intimidating opponent. Zygarde stared out blankly, no expression on its face. On the other hand, emotion clearly coursed through Lysandre's face. His usual steel gaze was replaced by a burning fire, his passion for battle and victory bursting out from his ears.

"Stone edge."

"Counter with aqua tail!"

Just as the large boulders were about to connect with their target, the sweeping motion of a glowing blue tail swatted away the attack. Dragonite was now working overtime to counter the powerful rock move, her hard work paying off as the barrage came to an end.

"Get in close with ice punch!"

"Dragon pulse to keep them away."

Nimbly, the winged dragon avoided the multicoloured beam of energy, smashing her glowing right fist into her opponent's jaw. The super effective attack caused Zygarde to stumble back slightly but even then, it shook off the attack quickly.

Dragonite's previous battle with Hydreigon was catching up to her as the winged dragon began to pant slightly, a little tired out. But one quick look back to me seemed to restore her energy as the dragon pokemon shook its head, recovering a little.

"Land's wrath now Zygarde!"

Even though the move was ground in typing, it didn't stop the thick black tentacles from protruding through the shattered floor once again. Both Dragonite and I were stunned at the move's nature as the winged dragon found herself in Zygarde's vice grip hold.

"Use hyper beam to break through the vines!"

Blinding pink and white energy was fired from all angles as Dragonite desperately tried to escape her opponent's grasp. Unfortunately for us, the risky gamble did not pay off, the winged dragon's stamina being drained even further.

She was susceptible to an open attack now, and Lysandre recognised this as well. The weight of the world seemed to shift as the Kalos champion stomped down with his left foot, calling out the next move.

"Dragon pulse now!"

As the beam of energy gathered power in Zygarde's mouth, my brain rushed to try and find a way out. Both of Dragonite's arms were being held, so ice punch was not an option. Her tail was also in a firm grasp, so aqua tail couldn't be used to deflect the attack. Dragonite was immobilised so we wouldn't be able to use dragon rush as an option and she was too tired to build up a hyper beam.

Then at the last second, my mind had found the eureka. With great speed, the draconic beam of energy was fired from Zygarde's mouth, the chance of escape falling by the second.

"Dragonite, use your wings to twist your body around and break free!"

Without hesitation, the dragon pokemon began to rapidly beat her small wings, shifting her weight at the same time. The rolling wind temporarily loosened the grip of the vines, giving Dragonite the perfect chance to escape. Expertly, she wriggled free but was only able to partially evade the powerful dragon attack.
