Chapter 56

Hunter: Rebecca, wait your mom called it's about your dad.
Rebecca: What about me da?
Hunter: You need to go back to Ireland immediately.
Colby: I will go with you. I will call my mom and tell her she needs to keep the twins for a few days.

Rebecca nodded and frantically got packed and ready and booked a flight. She fell asleep on Colby's shoulder and he just admired her. She woke up about and hour before landing and woke Colby up and got ready to get off the plane. Annette met them by the gate and they got their bags.

Annette: Becky, your da is the hospital. It doesn't look good, sweetie. They're telling the family to hope for the best, but expect the worse.
Rebecca: I wanna se da. This maybe my last time seeing him.
Colby: Ok, baby let's go.

They got their bags to Annette's car and she drove to the hospital.

Receptionist: Can I help you?
Rebecca: Ken Quin please.
Receptionist: Room 104 just down the hall.
Rebecca: Thank you.

Rebecca walked quickly to his room to see him asleep and hooked up to a feeding tube she knew that meant the cancer has spread and it was keeping him from eating, she did research when her father was first diagnosed with cancer back in early 2018.

Rebecca: Da?

He stirred then opened his eyes to see his daughter standing there tears streaming down her face

Ken: Rebecca, sweetheart its ok. Remember just cause I will always be watching over you.

He looked to Colby and he motioned for him to come closer.

Ken: Colby, I want you to know your not my son-in-law your my son. I know you don't believe in religious practices but I couldn't have asked for a better to marry my daughter and giving me two beautiful grandkids. Thank you.
Colby: Thanks, so much pop. I will make Rebecca happy untill you see us again.

Rebecca looked at Colby and she just cried. She knew his views on religion and hearing that just touched her heart in so many ways.

Ken: I love you guys. Even you Annette. I know we didn't work out years ago but you will always hold a special place in my heart.

Annette nodded and went and hugged Ken before excusing herself to use the restroom.

Colby: We love you, too, pop.
Rebecca: Yeah we love you, too.

Ken started slowly slipping away until he took his final breath and his heart stopped beating. Rebecca completely broke down and cried as Colby pulled her close he too was crying. They went back to the hotel to call Hunter and deliver the bad news.

-Phone call-

Colby: Hunter we are gonna be gone for about 3 weeks. Rebecca's dad died today.

Hunter: Ok, take as much time as you need. Tell Rebecca I send my condolences.

Colby: I will, thanks, Hunter.

-End of phone call-

Colby hung up the phone and went to console Rebecca.

Colby: Rebecca?
Rebecca: Why him?
Colby: It was like you told me when your pug died it was his time to go. He is always with you no matter what right here.

Colby pointed to her heart.

Colby: I called Hunter and gave us as much as we need.
Rebecca: Thank you, for coming with me.
Colby: Rebecca there wasn't any question on whether or not I would be here with you. I love you and you need me more than WWE does.
Rebecca: I love you so much.

3 days later Rebecca's dad's funeral Colby wore his black suit and Rebecca had a black dress and she didn't do her makeup she knew it wouldn't be long before she cried it off. They got to the church and Rebecca and Colby walked up to her father's casket and she cried Colby pulled her into his chest. The rest of the funeral was full of nothing but religious things and Colby even sang along to the songs which shocked Rebecca a bit. After the burial Rebecca and Colby went back to the hotel and just watched some reruns of Game of Thrones.

Rebecca: Colby how did you know those songs at the funeral.
Colby: Truth is I grew up in a religious family and it was instilled in me until I was 16 that's when I became and Atheist.
Rebecca: Well thanks for the chest to cry on.

They laughed and Colby kissed her cheek.

Colby: Let's go ahead and call it a night and get some sleep.

Rebecca nodded and they climbed into bed and immediately his chest became a pillow for her. He wrapped his arms around her and they both fell asleep instantly.
