Coffee.
Just going out for coffee couldn't harm a thing. And that's what Olivia kept saying to herself over and over again. She knew that she had promised Adalee to never start another relationship, but it's been five years and she isn't getting any younger. She'd at least give it a shot and maybe come out on the other side with a friend.
"So, coffee or dinner?" Trevor questioned, as he and Olivia sat together in a booth. Trevor was looking over the menu, and Olivia was busy sending a message to her mother in law to let her know that she was out still and probably wouldn't be able to talk to the girls till later or in the morning.
"Uh, whatever you want," Olivia replied with a gentle smile. She felt weird being out with some guy she just met tonight at the cemetery.
"I'm hungry all the time so maybe you and I should get some dinner." Trevor smiled. Olivia nodded slowly before starting to ask questions.
"So, how long were you and your wife married?" Olivia asked as she ran her fingers through her hair.
"12 years. We were married when we were right out of high school. Then the year after we had our daughter Ember." Trevor replied.
"Oh, you have a daughter?" Olivia asked.
"Yeah. She's 11. I'm glad that my wife and I had a kid together because I needed someone that looked like my wife. Gives me something to hold on to." Trevor spoke.
"Good," Olivia replied awkwardly.
"And your husband?" Trevor questioned.
"He was my boyfriend. Uh, actually our relationship was very complicated." Olivia laughed. She was trying to act like it wasn't a big deal that she hadn't been married to Elliot, but it was a big deal to her. It was one of the only reasons why she and the girls weren't included in anything.
"It's still a loss that shook you to your core. I can tell by just looking at you... do you have any kids with him?" Trevor asked.
"Two little girls. Adalee and Ainsley. Adalee is almost 10 and Ainsley is almost 6." Olivia spoke.
"I guess we have more in common than either of us thought."

After eating and drinking several cups of coffee, Trevor paid and then he walked Olivia to her car.
"It was nice being able to talk to someone who went through the same thing as I did. It must have been horrible for you to get the call." Trevor spoke, and Olivia felt tears well in her eyes as she shook her head.
"I was there," Olivia whispered.
"You were on the bus?" He asked quietly.
"No. I was there to pick my boyfriend up and I went to help. I'm an EMT, so I put my skills to work and I helped so many of the victims. I probably even tried to help your wife... but after everyone was taken to the hospital or was getting taken to the ME's office, my boyfriend wasn't accounted for. So I went looking for him and I found him by the river. He was so burnt and he could barely see me. He lost his sight by the time we got to the hospital and we lost him a week later." Olivia whimpered.
Trevor couldn't help but step forward and give her a warm hug as she cried quietly. She never talks about what happened, but now she was talking to a man that went through the same loss as she had.
"You are strong, Olivia. It's clear. You just need to realize that it wasn't your fault and that it wasn't your fault that many of those victims were dead or ended up dying." Trevor breathed as he rested his cheek against Olivia's hair as she sobbed.
"We just met and you are already so much more supportive than Elliot's family. They pretty much blocked me out of their lives. I wasn't even in the room when he died. They wouldn't let me talk at his funeral. If it wasn't for my daughters with him, they wouldn't even talk to me at all. But they talk to me so they can see his kids." Olivia spoke.
"Do you want to get together sometime and let the girls play together? Then you and I can talk again. Soon hopefully." Trevor spoke. Olivia nodded slowly before getting on her tiptoes and placing a soft kiss to Trevor's cheek.
"Let's exchange numbers and make a plan for this weekend. Or honestly, this week if we wanted. I kinda forgot that summer vacation started because school ended Friday." Olivia spoke.
"Alright, this week it is."

Olivia got home and went into her bedroom to call her girls. After talking to them and promising to pick them up Sunday after church, Olivia went into her mother's room to tell her about her night.
"Mom?" Olivia asked as she opened her mother's bedroom door. Serena pushed her glasses onto the top of her head before smiling.
"Hey, Livvie. How'd tonight go? Did you get some time to talk to Elliot?" Serena asked, and Olivia nodded as she walked over and climbed under the sheets beside her mother.
"I got to talk to Elliot, but it really sucks that he can't respond... but I met someone when I was leaving and his wife died thanks to the same accident that took Elliot from me," Olivia spoke.
"There should be a support group for all of you. There are too many families that had been hurt due to that accident." Serena spoke.
"Mom, we are getting together this week to let our daughters play together... he's so nice and he even held me when I was crying over everything. I told him about how I was there. That I helped people who were laying there with burns covering their bodies."
"Maybe this is a sign from Elliot and that man's wife," Serena spoke.
"What?" Olivia questioned.
"Maybe it's their way of making sure you both are set. That you have someone to help you through this all... you never know. Maybe Elliot is setting you up on a date." Serena smiled at her daughter. Olivia sank down under the sheets and crossed her arms under her head before speaking.
"Maybe I'm not ready to move on. Maybe I'll never be ready to move on."
