There are so many people on the dancefloor I'm scared I'm going to live through a new derealization episode but, for some weird reason, I don't. I feel so present, I've never been happier.
Nia and Melanie are dancing in the center of a ginormous circle forming around them. It's so big that some people have to dance outside of the dancefloor. They've already served the entrée (a choice of salmon or filet mignon with a sweet potato purée and asparagus), but no one seems to care. That's the kind of wedding I want to have: the kind where everyone is having so much of a great time that they forget to eat.
The round tables have a sand-yellow tablecloth and light blue candles and a translucent vase filled with white roses and blue lily of the valleys. The silverware is silver, but the napkins are golden. It's all so beautiful. There are balloons everywhere and free glow sticks set on the entrance table.
I've danced with Nia's parents who made the funniest speech I have ever heard and I am now dancing with Sabrina. The order in the table now goes Sabrina, Alex and Fannar. Sabrina is super friendly, and I don't doubt she'll be great friends with Nia's cousin, and Fannar is next to a guy who lived in Cambodia for five years.
"When do you want me to put the short-movie?" Sabrina asks, screaming in my ears. The music is so loud I feel like my head will explode, but I'm having too much fun to care.
"Don't know... During dessert time?"
"Okay."
We continue dancing, and I'm smiling like a sicko person because I love Sabrina so much and just being around her makes me feel so great. She better die after me because I won't be able to handle a day without her.
"Why are you smiling like a psycho?" she asks.
"Because I really love you, Sabro."
Sabrina laughs and hugs me. "Me too. I really, really love you. You have no idea."
The DJ changes the song to All of Me by John Legends. It was supposed to be Nia and Mel's first dance song, but they changed it last minute to That's When I Knew by Alicia Keys. The song is perfect for them. Through their first dance, I couldn't stop looking at Fannar who kept looking at me and I decided that, if I get married to him someday, we will dance to this song, too.
"May I have this dance?" Sabrina asks me, stretching out her hand.
I laugh. "Why, of course."
And we slow dance together like we're an old married couple and Julia cuts our waltz to dance with both Sabrina and me. My best friend leaves when Nia's younger brother asks her if she wants to dance with him. She blinks, beams, and says, "I'm going to marry you someday." She covers her mouth quickly, but he laughs it off and says, "Then I'll be a very lucky man," and they start dancing together.
"Isn't this the best wedding ever?" Julia asks, spinning me around.
"The best."
"We should be wedding planners."
I stop dancing and stare at Julia without blinking.
"What?" Julia asks. "What's wrong?"
"Wedding planner," I let out.
Wedding planner. I can become a wedding planner.
"What about it?" Julia wonders.
"Nothing. Nothing. I'll talk to you later."
"Oh...kay?"
I smile at her to make her understand that there is nothing to worry about.
"You know, he hasn't stopped looking at you all night," Julia asl me.
